Ask yourself this, would we draft Marcus Smart for PG or SG?!
Well he is labeled SG, so we could only let him be a shooting guard, its just how it is, cause he isn't a "Point Guard". To be point guard, you have to be labeled as one and join a club membership.

Re: 2013 Free Agents
Is anyone else here as disappointed as I am that Stephen Curry signed an extension at the last second, this last off-season? At the time, it seemed like a risk for Golden State. But if he stays relatively healthy, that dude is a bargain at 11 million a year. He's averaging 23pts/7asts and shooting 45 fg/45 3pt/90 ft. That's just ridiculous.
I would have loved for the Jazz to offer him a max contract, and front load the **** out of that contract. So if the Warriors didn't match, we would get them back for tanking last year by stealing away their best player. And if they did match, we would screw them over financially, because I'm fairly certain that they would be over the luxury tax. Smh...

He's a PG. No question at all. And there is always and X factor I look at with players. Would I want to coach them? Would I want to deal with them day in and day out? Do they have the relentless work ethic and love for the game?
If you just research articles on Smart and Oladipo you can get a small feel for who they are as people. Smart is very mature for an 18 year old and I feel he wants this real bad. He had a tough childhood but he has really grown up... he's a fantastic teammate... and he works hard. Oladipo has the best work ethic in this draft and he's also a first class person. That's why they rank number 1 and 2.
When the pistons (Dumars) drafted Darko he missed the obvious. Yea he was a young freak of nature... but I know a guy (he's not an international scout) he scouted the opponents.... and he told me at the time... Darko doesn't love basketball... it is not his passion. In that respect he reminded him of olowokandi.
So I can't stress enough how important these background checks and interviews are. You've got to get in these prospects heads. From a distance and what I've heard 2nd hand... Smart and Oladipo are good people and real hard workers. The one thing about Oladipo you can compare to HOFers right now is work ethic.
Go on youtube and watch that Grantland interview of Larry Bird... watch any interview of talking basketball with Kobe, Bird, Thomas, Jordan... and I could list others.... there is a certain work ethic to Larry... and a certain edge... that's the type of kid I look for. It is hard to find these days.
I think Noel was blessed with a ton of length and athleticism... but I see no evidence that he will work half as hard as these guys. On top of that his entire game is based on athleticism and he is down with an injury that can hamper athleticism. Smart/Oladipo... those are the top 2. Maybe not on draft day... but still.

Would we let Klay Thompson run the ball, yeah, we don't have to label him "Point Guard" to let him run the ball..

My point was you don't have to be a stupid Point Guard to run the ball....Plenty of backcourt players run the ball and aren't traditional PG's.
Since Lebron is a big guy he can't possibly be a point guard, of course not he is a Forward.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.
