Sadly, I think SA and OKC have both had better defenses than LAC. 2, 3, 4 in defensive efficiency on the league are Memphis, SA, OKC. Indiana is #1. Memphis' offense is just a good amount behind the other teams.

in reality? ya
by #s no.

89.4 vs mem
94.8 vs clips
96.3 vs spurs
96.6 vs Okc

so 2nd best in west.

in the east only heat(95.1) and indy(90.5) and chi (92.8) are better :)

so #2 D in the west. #5 d in NBA> LOL(only if stats meant something)

This game was a Memphis type of game. Ugly, physical and slow. It was much needed. The playoffs are exactly a week away and regardless of who we play or where we play, this game was a nice reminder of what we're going to have to encounter. We have had a soft schedule to close the season out, so it's great that we went on enemy turf and had a grind it out victory.

Memphis had 13 straight home victories, and we hadn't defeated a legit western playoff team in ages. Great win.

Well all PPG really tells us is more about how fast teams play than about how well they defend. Points given up per possession is a better indicator. Even with the Clippers trying to play faster, they are still only 19th in pace, up from 27th last year, but still below average. Memphis is 29th in pace, SA is 7th and OKC is 9th, so even if the held the opposition to lower shooting percentages in an average game, the opponent would score more than against LAC or Denver because they had more possessions.

We just gotta find the right stats :)

Really is a great win, much needed. Don't forget, the Lakers in recent times were supposedly a good team, primed to upset the #1

We got Hill rolling he should find some minutes in a series against Memphis. Chauncey needs to suit up soon because he will need to get a rhythm going into the post season.

Caron Butler said his right knee had been bothering him since Friday, but he said he'd be OK.

Grant Hill: “I hadn’t played in a while, so it was fun to get out there and play and it’s good to know I’ve still got it.”

HILL SPARKS RUN IN FIRST APPEARANCE IN TWO WEEKS

MEMPHIS – Unheralded guard Willie Green walked past Grant Hill’s locker after the Clippers’ 91-87 win in Memphis and yelled, “G-Hill, fountain of youth.”

“He knows how to play defensively,” Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said of Hill being part of a group that held the Grizzlies to 14 fourth-quarter points. “[Hill] made some blocks and made a couple of big shots. Like I have said all along, I have no hesitation to put him, Ronny Turiaf or any of those guys in. I have a lot of confidence because I know how hard they work and prepare.”

“I was a little worried because this morning, before the game, we went hard 4-on-4 here at the arena,” Hill said. “Me, Chauncey [Billups], Maalik [Wayns], DaJuan [Summers], Ronny [Turiaf], we played a few games up and down. And before the game I went pretty hard, so when they told me at halftime [that I was going to play], I was like, ‘My legs are kind of heavy.’”

“The adrenaline kicked in and it was just good to be out there and help your team,” Hill said. “It’s good to know I’ve still got it.

“I’ve just waited for the opportunity and it came tonight.”

“When someone goes down you need other guys to step up and the way he played tonight was unbelievable,” Blake Griffin said.

We've beaten them and Utah in the last month and a half, but meh. Outside of that, our last win was against Houston in February.

I think Hill will have a more consistent role in the playoffs. It may not be big minutes, but we'll need his defense. Rotations typically shorten, but we'll probably still go deep into our bench. CP3 and Blake's minutes will increase, but I think everyone else should be on a situational as needed basis.

Billups said he'll be back before the season ends. I figure that he'll be back Tuesday. Willie has been playing well and has started 60 games for us. I'd honestly feel more comfortable with him starting for us and Billups coming off of the bench, but I know that's not going to happen.

I didn't get to finish watching the game but I was happy to hear that we won. Great win, I knew it would be a playoff type game. Now that we won we're in great position to have home court.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Willie deserves to start in the playoffs. Chauncey should man up and be a role bench player

04.13 Clippers @ Grizzlies Box Score win-points

04.13 Clippers @ Grizzlies: Jordan wins 4.3 points for Clippers

WPTS means win points. The last column "Final WPTS" is the sum of the 11 WPTS before. The sum of "Final WPTS" of all one team players is equal to the match points difference.

Instructions of the 11 WPTS before "Final WPTS" are as below:
"Shot WPTS" is calculated by using PTS, FGA and FTA. Compare the PTS, FGA and FTA of one player with the other players of two teams. For example, one player shoots 9 times and scores 12 points. The other players of two teams shoot 100 times and score 100 points. This player "Shot WPTS" is 12-9*100/100=3.

In "RB WPTS" :
One offensive rebound points= “points per possession” * “defensive rebound probability”.
In above formula: “defensive rebound probability”=“two teams defensive rebounds” / ”two teams total rebounds”.
One defensive rebound points= “points per possession” * “offensive rebound probability”.
In above formula: “offensive rebound probability”=“two teams offensive rebounds” / ”two teams total rebounds”.
For example in one match two teams get 30 offensive rebounds with 70 defensive rebounds and score 200 points with 200 offensive times. In this game:
One offensive rebound points=(200/200)*[70/(30+70)]=0.7
One defensive rebound points=(200/200)*[30/(30+70)]=0.3
"RB TIME" before "Shot WPTS" is to amplify the minutes played of centers and power forwards and reduce the minutes played of guards and small forwards. So the rebound performances are judged on the player position differently.

"AST WPTS", "STL WPTS" and "BLK WPTS" are calculated by using the number of assists, steals, blocks and minutes played respectively.
"TOV Lost WPTS" is the losing points due to turnovers and calculated by using the number of turnovers.
"MP Cost WPTS" is to make up for turnovers according to minutes played.
"Shot Cost WPTS" is to make up for turnovers according to shooting times.

DEF WPTS" means defense win points. If the offensive efficiency of one team is better than the other team, "DEF WPTS" is positive. Otherwise "DEF WPTS" is negative. One team total "DEF WPTS" can only be distributed according to minutes played for lack of opponents’ points and shooting times on each player’s defense. The team total "DEF WPTS" is close to "Shot WPTS".

Sum up shooting times and assist times of every player. Punish the players who are under the average level of team by "OFFEN WPTS". The penalty points "OFFEN WPTS" are distributed to the players whose "PTS/MP" exceeds the average level of team.
"DEV WPTS" is to eliminate deviation. "DEV WPTS" is proportional to minutes played.
Tell the relation between statistics and match points difference.
