Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Right now, it seems like KMart wants to stay in OKC, and is willing to take a little less money for it. However, thats not a sure thing. As well, I dont know what the plan is for the younger guys like Lamb, it seems that they may fill that role, but still not for certain. If Martin doesn't come back, and they look elsewhere, who do you think could come in? I was reading on ESPN that Monta Ellis looks to be out of Milwaukee, and may come to another team for less $$$ as a sixth man. His numbers are pretty close to Martin, could he be an option (just a thought as he's a great scoring option)? Anyone else?

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Martin is better so if they cost the same, Martin would be a lot better. Monta is inefficient, bad 3 point shooter, and bad defensively. I don't seem him playing well off Durant and Westbrook at all. Just going with Lamb and increasing Thabo's minutes makes more sense if Martin leaves.
Also, I don't think its possible to sign him since it would put the Thunder over the luxury line.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Reggie Jackson/Jeremy Lamb is a good enough tandem to handle the scoring on our second unit, potentially, with Lamb roaming off the ball looking for open jumpers and Jackson running the pnr, making drive-dish and drive-kick plays.
On the Draft, Trey Burke is a potential 6th man of the year in this league, in my opinion!
No need to resign Kevin Martin at all. His resigning will probably not have negative impact on just Lamb's value, but on Reggie Jackson's and our Toronto Pick's too. Martin might bring productivity(underwhelming productivity, but, productivity), but does not bring back value. Reggie, Lamb, Perry... These guys bring value back.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Unless Martin wants to sign for super cheap, I'd look for Tony Allen. He played his college ball here, and he'd be an instant fan favorite.
Heck, even if Martin does sign for super cheap, I'd still want Tony Allen to come in as Durant's backup.
Westbrook - Allen - Thabo - Durant - Ibaka; would be a filthy defensive lineup. Just imagine if Allen was playing Fisher's minutes right now. Instead of a guy shooting 3-4 shots a game and missing all of them, on top of playing horrible defense, wed have a guy shooting 1 shot per game and missing it, but playing elite defense.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Tony Allen would def be a nice pickup (and would be appreciated just to replace Fisher) as a guy who's a "winner" and a vet, also just read they may be interested in Nolan Smith as a backup guard, but not quite sure why with options already on the roster. As well, completely OT but didn't realize till shortly ago that Fisher was the Lakers 1st rd pick in the Kobe draft! That's a contrast in career paths as well!

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
That's a tough question. If you look at the list of free agents this summer there's not a lot to choose from. I think it's plausible that Martin may command a lot more money than he might otherwise for this very reason. I do think it's plausible that Lamb and/or Reggie might in fact offset Martin's contributions if he isn't resigned.

Martin is probably gone this off season, unless Presti feels we need a stop gap for one more year, or he signs for way below market value.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
I want Kmart for 1-2 more years 3-6M.
Unless we can find a better deal for a similar player.
I think we'll see what happens after the post-season though.

Thats my current first hope with K Mart, but otherwise, it could be interesting. Post season is huge for him.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
I'm praying for a team like Toronto, Detroit or Milwaukee to overpay Kevin Martin this offseason. Extremely expendable. Don't think he has gas in the tank for a good post season push.

Replacing a Martin or Harden is never easy...but OKC always seems to know how to get great draft picks..
I see you guys getting another steal in the draft this year.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Martin has said money is no longer the only motivating factor in his career, and Reddick has admitted to that money is going to be a major factor in his next contract. It will be interesting to see the respective contracts for each this summer with Martin coming down from a salary high and Reddick trying to break the MLE ceiling.
My instinct is if Martin is not signed that Presti will go with the young players and not spend money on a veteran free agent.

That's pretty much the vibe I get from the situation and Presti's past. Martin's a year older, and I think he's sick of being on bad teams, and I'm hopeful he stays.

End of the day i dont think either will get beyond 9m. Martin will probably be closer to 9m with redick around 7m ish(if he stays at bucks)
I think with the new CBA would be interesting how extension go for these type of players, those that are better than MLE.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
My logic is that Lamb needs to play sooner or later. He was the 13th pick last year and we cant afford having him sitting on the bench for another year.
Im not sure if PJ3 can become a solid player so soon, but I think Lamb can be very productive if given 20 mins a night.
So yeah, I pretty much think OKC will let Martin go and instead maybe pick up someone else at C or SF position.
Just imagine how good OKCs situation is: Top 2 NBA Team right now with their core players beeing locked up for years and them being 23-25 years of age.
Then we have Lamb (last years 13th pick), PJ3 (28th pick), a lottery pick from Toronto plus another first round pick this year. Then we have Tibor Pleiss playing in spain now.
For 5-6 teams in the NBA those could be probably all 15-35 min guys, maybe starters and with us they dont get any minutes (yet).
Future belongs to OKC Thunder!

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Actually the Thunder could probably afford to develop Lamb without rotation minutes for another year, but I don't think Lamb would want to go that route. Where Lamb was picked is meaningless and Lamb wasn't drafted by Presti.
The question with Lamb, is how much production could he give with Martin's minutes? How consistent would he be?
Right now PJ3 is the back up SF with potential to play in future small ball line ups. Any additional prospects at SF or perhaps even center will only stunt his development. I also think Liggins can play SF and has a set of skills that is appreciated by the organization and depending upon his goals could be a long term option as a 10th or 11th man off the bench.

Have I missed anything?
Since when is PJ3 our SF backup?
He averaged 7 minutes in 38 games this season...Hes like the 12th or 13th man on our roster.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
Both statements are true. PJ3 is the back up SF who has rarely played this season because Brooks has chosen to go in other directions.
PJ3 has played PF in Tulsa, but typically plays SF in his limited minutes in OKC.

Re: Offseason Signing (6th Man)
With the postseason partly underway, I was wondering now on thoughts as far as Jackson goes as well. Does anyone think there's a chance he could be used as sixth man? He's been great in replacing Westbrook, and Martin's had his moments as well, so I'm really not sure which way I lean on this issue. I think either could be viable options, as well as maybe if Thabo isn't resigned after next year Jackson moving into a starting spot alongside Russell and KD. Anyone else think that could be plausible?
