Enjoy your objective announcers

Post#1 » by peteyjones13 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 10:06 pm

Raps fan here,

This is an unneccessary thread, but watching streamed Laker games, I just want to say that I am impressed by, and appreciate the genuinely objective play by play/analysis of your announcers. If it's a foul on Pau, they'll call a foul on Pau. They don't let rooting for the home team completely cloud the way they call the game. It's refreshing.

Even the Raps announcers are getting pretty biased and ridiculous. The Celtics announcers are unbearable and should be fired. Paul Pierce could knock someone out, and they'd flip out if he was given a foul.

Yeah not a lot of fans really appreciate Stu Lantz but having had LP for 4 seasons, I really love listening to our broadcast crew. The Blazers announcers are even worse than the Celtics.

Utah has super biased announcers. I think we are still reaping the benefits of having Chick Hearn set the bar for objectivity high.

This is the reason I like Stu but at the same time he gets annoying haha. I feel the same way whenever I watch games on NBA TV or the Clipper games on their channel, it baffles me how much of homers these guys are. When it is an obvious foul they try to make it seem somehow that it wasnt.
Don't get me started on the Clippers announcers, it's like they are told to not mention anything good about the Lakers haha, I remember a game against the Spurs they were talking about all the elite teams that dominated this past decade, the Spurs, The Celtics, The Heat, The Mavs, they failed to bring up the Lakers, haha and of course being a Laker fan that got me upset lol.
Although Stu can get annoying with all his "That was niiiice" and "Stuism's" and all of his Stu's Views, and then when he tries to imprint his basketball IQ knowledge onto the game.(I find myself saying SHUT UP STU, almost every game lol).... Regardless of all this I do appreciate the fact that he is far from being a homer to his own team, and I will always appreciate the Chick n Stu combo.
Bill has done alright so far IMO, he may sound dull at times and I catch him saying the wrong things here and there but I appreciate the fact that he too is not a homer at all.

The San Antonio announcers are unbearable too... They scoff at the other team the entire game.

perspective is quite funny in this dept. I always thought stu was never biased but I see non laker fans rag on him too when he praises Kobe. I haven't heard other announcers for a while but the most irrating one I last heard was Sean Elliot, dude's a clown and boring as hell but I guess SA should be use to boring by now.

Stu can be a fan of the Laker players. He might be overly effusive when Kobe makes a good play but he will also call out the Lakers players if he sees something he disagrees with.

I heard that back when Bill Walton used to commentate for the Clippers he used to get critical about their play... and rightly so as they sucked ass during that time. After a while the Clipper management got upset at all the negativity and ordered Walton to not say anything bad about the Clippers or he will be fired. So Bill began to commentate Clipper games sarcastically comparing simple plays the Clippers made to legendary players of the past. Then that became his schtick and he carries to this day.

I loved bill Walton's sarcasm. He was so hilarious I used to watch clipper games just to laugh at what he said.

The thing that annoys me the most about our announcers is Bill Mcdonald enthusiastically screaming for EVERY SINGLE PLAY the Lakers make. Save that **** for the game winning shot, an impressive dunk or something of that nature. I don't need to hear you screaming at me when Pau makes a wide open mid-range jump shot in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

Stu's good, his insight can get repetitive at times though. If you watch a ton of Laker games he starts to sound like a broken record  . Other then that he's a very fair announcer and tends to criticize the Lakers more then he praises them. Which as a fan I actually enjoy and appreciate. Especially when I have to listen to other team's announcer nut hug on their team all game long.

Portland Mike Rice Sr. (name sound familiar?) is probably the worst announcer ever. Completely irrational when doing games.

Been watching every game on League Pass and become really fond of Stu for his smarts and objectivity.
But hey, Raps fans got Coach Armstrong and he's a hoot. Ole' school Brooklynite - fun guy

Man I loved the two weeks that Joel did with Hot Rod Hundley. Hot Rod was a Utah homer and Joel was tearing him a new one when they were losing at Staples

Caught the Warriors game on Friday on the Warriors' radio feed...absolutely terrible. Could not piece together what the action was they were attempting to describe. They just complained about officiating.

I can't stand Billy Mac, and not for bias, but because he sounds like a kid who gets overly excited over any make in the game. lol He should have stayed a college football/basketball announcer.

I remember we were facing them a couple of years ago. When LO was still on our team, he kept referring to him as "Mr. Kardashian" it was so annoying...
