The Kawasaki Krew Thread

Post#1 » by Kapono » Wed Apr 17, 2013 5:26 am

Lets use this thread to discuss our new Japanese over lord.

Japanese gold glove defense.
The eye of a young Barry Bonds.
The speed of a prime Ricky Henderson.

Most swag on the team.

I'm on board. These sort of shenanigans are more important in seasons where the team is going nowhere. But watching this guy is too much fun. I find his sort of act more appealing that Lawrie's.

Let's just enjoy it while it lasts. I think squeezing a couple of months out of Kawasaki is our best-case scenario. With Lawrie there to provide protection, Kawasaki will look better in the field. As long as he can keep scratching out the odd hit, bunt, or walk and play passable defense we'll be ok. But, Izturis is going to have to provide some more offense for us. With Lind at 1B/DH, we're getting almost nothing out of our infield.

He did this his first time on base against KC and just almost got picked off (Hosmer tagged him but the ball popped out of his glove).

This thread requires more haikus.

Praise Kawasaki
He of the great batter's eye
And Boni's better.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I don't get people who think that Kawasaki is not a good player. He does all you can ask from your 9th hitter and even if he doesn't get on he's driving up the pitchers pitch count. Plus, his defense is above average..he's no Reyes, but we don't have to give up anything to have him on the team.
