It still amazes how little Vesely resembles this guy now. It's like they are two different people.

Re: Jan Vesely Part II: He a Bust
Vesely only created 1 dunk out of the ten (#8). The rest were just alley oops, fast breaks, or wide open lanes that Brendan Haywood could have taken down Broadway for or big dunk. The only things Vesely shows in the NBA is that he can dunk off alley oops and dunk off fast breaks. I don't see much of a difference between Vesely's Euro highlights and his NBA highlights.

What can you say when Wiz cast-off Shavlik Randolph out-plays Vesely.

Re: Jan Vesely Part II: He a Bust
vs we could have had this guy.
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6478/nikola-vucevic
2nd in the league rebounding centers.
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/playe ... asontype/2
Tied for 3rd in double doubles.
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/playe ... le-doubles
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/playe ... on/centers
11th in pts for centers.
Average 14 pts 12 rebounds for March
Averaging 16 pts and 16 rebounds for April so far. AND HE IS ONLY 22
CCJ may have wanted Faried. I said we needed a center and that we should get this guy.
The sad thing is, we could have had both.
Or my options were Nikola and T Harris or Nikola and Brooks
Every draft has players that are not top 5 picks that end up being really good.

All About Basket Ball. He was a no brainer.

But look on the bright side. At least we didn't pick him and then trade him for an injured bum.

Yeah, kissing his gf on draft night will go down as the top highlight of his career.
At least he's ahead of Pecherov, whose top career highlight was getting posterized by Nocioni and being mocked by the Bulls announcers for looking like Stewie.

Randolph is a pretty good journeyman big. His first couple seasons were decent in 2005, 2006. He's had a very good 10-12 games with Boston this season.
What I remember is Randolph rebounded very well and so did Barron, who IMO outplayed all the healthy bigs at times.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

That may have been one of the funniest moments in basketball history.

I understand what you're saying, but do you really not see a massive difference in body language, aggressiveness, confidence, desire, etc? The guy's spirit is broken. On top of that, I think the plan to bulk him up has backfired. He's still too weak to hold any kind of position but has lost some of his quickness and agility.
I think it was doc that posted the infamous pic of his toothpick legs that foreshadowed his inability to fill out the right way.

Pages 15-20 of this thread are fantastic: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1122010&start=210
I hope Hooplatta's absence isn't a self-imposed exile over his belief in Jan. I did find that money David Blatt quote from before the draft:

Seems like he'd make a nice GM!

Can't shoot, can't create off dribble, can't really rebound, can pass but is not a facilitator or point forward. He can run the court but needs to really fall into perfect situation

(Paraphrased)
Jan Vesely- Can't shoot, can't create off dribble, can't really rebound, can pass but is not a facilitator or point forward. He can run the court but needs to really fall into perfect situation
Donatas- Highly skilled inside and outside. Plays when he wants to though. Doesn't have a high motor and players who you have to beg to play hard scare me. Talent is there though
Jonas- Long, Tall, Physically raw but not basketball raw. Has the frame which will allow him to put healthy weight on. Can block shots, rebound, run the court, great hands. And has a little bit of an edge to him. Really WANTS to play and improve. I think he is the #1 upside guy in this draft.
Seems like he'd make a nice GM!

I wouldn't go that far, this would be a cop-out for us not taking Walker, Morris, or trading down. Remember Ernie Grunfeld's infamous words regarding the 2009 draft: " We didn't feel that anyone could help us" to paraphrase. I would wager that this draft-class's 1st-rounders will produce more productive players than last-years.

Although it didn't take place on the court, my vote for funniest moment in basketball history would probably go to Shaq's "freestyle rap" about Kobe in 2008.

Why don't the Wizards use the D League again? If any player coulda benefitted from a stint in the D League, its Vesely. He really should have been dropped about a month into the season.

Yes. Vesely actually is better than Earl Barron.

I honestly don't think he is. At least Barron can play a little D and grab some boards.
I truly believe that Vesely is the worst player in the NBA.

As of my last update (last week), that honor actually went to Austin Rivers. Here's the bottom 10 in PPA as of last week (minimum 500 minutes).
- Austin Rivers -- 0
- Ronnie Price -- 14.6
- Jan Vesely -- 14.9
- Dahntay Jones -- 15.2
- Xavier Henry -- 17
- Norris Cole -- 18.6
- Kevin Seraphin -- 19.4
- Draymond Green -- 23
- Will Barton 24
- Chris Singleton
Hey look, 3 Wizards in the bottom 10. Shoulda made it a drinking game.

Which is why they need to clean out the bench and start over.
That could be sideways moves for other teams projects.
That could be with all new rookies from this draft.
That could be from bringing in a few more Webster type vets.
Or some mix.
But this group needs a fresh start someplace else and I'm sure there are players on other teams that need the same.

Damn, Austin Rivers with a 0. What do you need to do to get a 0?
