The Offseason Thread

Post#1 » by Liver_Pooty » Thu Apr 18, 2013 2:44 am

I'm already saddened that our season is over. Next season should be exciting. Will be interesting to see how Biyombo does in his third season, along with MKG and Walker.

I am ready for the draft, at least until the lottery.

I've missed a majority of games since Charter doesn't carry them, and my wireless blows. Last season I spent 300$ on league pass to only see Bobcat games blacked out which nearly made me consider burning my house down.

But next year I don't think we will be in contention for Wiggins. The addition of Mcroberts with improvements from Walker MKG Biyombo and Henderson plus our pick.

Watch us get 5th pick and miss out on Noel, McLemore, Bennett and Oladipo.

Man that really sucks, sorry to hear that, That is crazy considering I live in Australia and I couldn't tell you how many games I've watched this season.

wouldnt mind bringing back McBob but preferably as a backup. Him and Sessions is the foundation of a solid bench.

main thing is dont overpay for anyone. let Pargo go and Mully go, offer adrien the minmum, McBob 3 mil a year for 3yrs, Hendo 6.5 mil a year. none of these guys are pieces that will matter that much in the future, i like the guys but dont forget its a 21 win team they obviously arent that great

What's our record since we got Mcroberts (I have no idea). I think those pieces are pieces a team needs to be great. Always need a solid bench. I'd give Mcroberts 4 a year and Henderson 7.

so you think McBob and Hendo would be worth more than 3 and 6.5 on the open market? McBob was good for us but he spent the majority of the season getting DNPs or 5mpg on the worst team in the league. I don't think we are at the point where teams place value on what our guys do yet. Depending on who we draft could make one or the other a bigger priority. IE if we are in position to draft Noel, pump a little more in the Hendo offer and lowball McBob. If we stay at 2-5 and its looking like McLemore or Oladipo, lowball Hendo and pump up the McBob offer a bit. objectively I don't see the need to lock up all the guys on this roster for 3-5 years just because they werent the biggest turds on the roster. McBob fell into our laps for free and had a good season for us. But so did Matt Carroll once

This offseason I really want us to solidify the 4 position. A stretch pf with range and athleticism would be nice. Enter Anthony Bennett.

Re-sign Hendo who comes back with deeper range and can go for 100 3 pointers next season.

Add 3 point shooting.

Get better defensively.

Please don't draft Oladipo.

I believe McBob is a key for this team, no matter if he starts or comes off the bench. His skill set and strengths fit the newer game and this team. Sure, we still need a star-level player in the post, but I'd try to lock up McBob to a very resonable longer-term deal. He wants some stability with one team.

I would do everything reasonable to sign Al Jefferson. There is no C or PF in this draft we can count on for the serious production we'd receive from AJ over the next 3 to 5 years (Noel included). Any other young post player in future drafts will take some time to get going. Biz is contributing but would be even more helpful coming off the bench (while continuing to improve his game and learning from vet's). Jefferson gives us all that. He's the force we need down low. I do NOT want anything to do with Milsap. I think pairing Al with McBob would be a good fit, with Biz off the bench and paired at times with Al or Josh.

In the draft if we get Noel, fine. I am not enamored with him, but he certainly has potential. I think McLemore is THE choice in this draft. As a freshman he deferred to his team often, but with some maturity and confidence I think he will be a star. Being in St. Louis I have seen him play, and others here who follow the game closely rate him highly. He has the shot, the skills and the NBA body. If we can re-sign Hendo to a reasonable contract, all the more reason to draft Ben and develop him to eventually take the starting role.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

After resigning Hendo and McBob, other free agents I'd like CHA to look at include:

Tony Allen
Robin Lopez
Brandan Wright
Timofey Mozgov
Ivan Johnson
Corey Brewer
Elton Brand
Earl Clark
Daniel Orton
Diante Garrett
Chase Buddinger
Mike Dunleavy

My thoughts...
McLemore- has superstar written all over him. If we can get him we need to then sign young bigs this summer like Peck, Hickson, or Brandon Wright.

Noel- As so many have said the potential have said the defensive potential of Noel, Biz, and MKG is salivating. What intrigues me is the athletic potential of a Noel, Biz, McBob, Mully rotation. Just think about the potential of Noel and McBob as the starters with Biz and Mully rotating in and out. If we go this route then I want J.J. Reddick as our free agent.

Bennett- The same thing I said about Noel except add exceptional offense to mix!

Oladipo- Extremely intrigueing. We know he will help on defense. Has the potential to help on offense as well if he can get his jumper straight- Bobby Phils type player?

The draft is key. I don't know who the Cats are looking at free agents, but my wish list is ...

1. Hickson
2.Peck
3. Milsap
4. JJ Reddick/Hendo/Wright
5. JR Smith/Kevin Martin/Tony Allen

If we had JRsmith, we could run an iso offense for each player. Play each player behind the 3 with Biz setting picks for each player to get to the basket.

That sounds awful. Completely undersized and JR is going to get a big payday this offseason.

At this point I want us to draft McLemore with whatever pick we get and sign some decent bigs to short contracts. I've never been a fan of waiting for the 2014 draft but that's what we are looking at. One more year in the tank with a buffet of talent after.

I really hope we resign McBob. I'd give him anything around 4 a year. Hendo we should issue a QO and see what his value is on the open market. I don't want to pay him Demar money but I doubt we'll have to.

I trust Cho to make the right moves.

BTW some of the guys on my list namely Tony Allen, Corey Brewer, Elton Brand, I would like to bring in specifically to help teach our young guys team defense.

I'm curious what people think would be a reasonable deal to sign McRoberts to? I'm concerned we are going to pay too much for the guy.

For his infectious passing, aggressive rebounding and awesome savoir-flair, I would raise him to 4 mil/.
