There are a host of teams with cap space this offseason. If the Lakers were thinking of doing an amnesty on Pau, there would be a market for them to get something in return.

Piston fan lurking. With Kobe being out possibly as far as early 2014, would you guys be interested in a Stuckey/CV for Pau deal? Saves a couple million immediately, and both Stuck/CV expire in 2014. The Lakers can use Stuckey as a short term replacement at SG while Kobe is rehabbing and when he comes back Stuckey can backup both guard spots. Or they can just buy Stuckey out for $4 million and just save another $4.5 million in the trade. CV can be a stretch 4 which fits better next to Dwight. Or the Lakers can do the swap for just CV alone just for the $11-12 million immediate savings. Not a perfect deal, but trades rarely are. Thoughts?

what does this do for Det? Also I dont think mgmt. wants band aide fixes if they trade Pau, which this trade would certainly be, I dont forsee CV/Stucky being in our long term plan, really no point in exchanging expiring for expiring just the sake of it. Few million dollar saving for more medioricty isn't in Mgmt. plans

It gives us a 3 big man rotation where Pau can still get 25-30 minutes a night subbing in for either Drummond or Monroe. With either player he would be able to man the low post area he prefers to be without clashing with his counterpart the way he does with Dwight (from what I've been hearing all season). I think he can be pretty effective in a role such as this and make our bench effective. With this trade it wouldn't mess with anymore than a few million of our $24 million in capspace and we can still upgrade our wing position through the lottery and free agency. At the very worst he's either a $20 million trade chip at the deadline or an expiring to where we can let him exprie and continue to retool the team for a 2nd summer in a row.

But as you said if management is not looking for band-aid fixes it makes this proposal null and void. Just following up on what it does for Detroit.

It's not a terrible deal but I think we can do better. Can see Toronto offering Bargs + Lowry to try to make a serious push next year with Gay & Gasol. We'd have to find a 3rd team to take on Bargs though, ideally Min for AK + Dwill2.

“I’ve come to realize that we can play with the two big guys,” D’Antoni said in reference to Gasol and Howard while speaking with the media on Tuesday. “I was a little skeptical at first. I think with both of them being close to 100 percent, yeah, they can play together easily. I kind of had a preconceived notion that probably wasn’t right.”

I haven't been paying much attention to the Lakers this year (Celtics fan here), and I knew a little about MDA's craziness, but is this really what you guys have been dealing with this season? Holy crap. He wasn't sure they could play together? That's crazy.

Lowry enticed Gay to come to the Raptors. They're best buddies. Don't see him moving, but I could be wrong.

As the Lakers needed points down the stretch last night, it was Gasol whom they leaned on to manufacture them. It seemed as though every possession that began with a Blake-Gasol pick-and-roll ended with a Lakers’ basket, and they came in just about every way: a Gasol turnaround in the lane, a Gasol skip pass to the corner for 3, a Gasol wraparound pass to Howard for a layin. Gasol finished with 17 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists — the seventh triple-double of his career, at a time when the Lakers needed it as much as they have all year. In terms of facilitating and becoming the point through which an entire offense runs, it was the type of game no other big man could put together. “He’s the most skilled big man in basketball,” Blake said. “Well, maybe his brother is close.”

Down five with eight minutes remaining, Gasol either scored or assisted on the next five Laker baskets, the last an Antawn Jamison 3 that gave L.A. an 84-81 lead with about six minutes left.

if you can't see if this is sarcasm or stupidity it's pretty clear what's your case. And this is not sarcasm.
