Bsck to back NBA Finals, 6 consecutive EC Finals... underachieving? LMAO!

Dumars took a shot with AI, it didnt work obviously but I cant really be angry w/ him for trying something.

We traded Chauncey Billups for AI... as fans we have every right to be angry with him for trading Chauncey and getting Iverson, his attitude and expiring contract in exchange

He completely whiffed on Charlie V & Ben Gordon but often teams blow their cap space immediately so that wasnt out the norm.

Blowing the cap space immediately isn't a problem... signing BG and CV is the problem. We had Prince, Rip, Stuckey and Afflalo under contract FFS! BG wasn't needed at all... and CV was the wrong big man to team with those guys

"If we can get a quality GM & HC.." explains my post exactly. Name better options out there that are realistic or stay the course.

Kilo mentioned a young dude from Boston... seems like a realistic option... and The Spurs lead assistant is a realistic option to become a Head Coach...

The idea that we should stick with Joe and Frank or even just Joe reeks of "better the Devil you know".

People want to give Joe a free pass because of the ownership situation.... so he wasn't allowed to make any moves at all to clear salary, acquire future first round picks, Draft better players until Gores took over?

Like it or not every single player on this roster is here because of Joe Dumars! He built this!

yes underachieving, tons of success but only 1 title & multiple failures vs teams we should have beaten. They were title or bust & there was too many busts, change needed to happen.

AI was an All Star then, it wasnt like a Pau for nothing trade like you insinuate.

Agreed on BG/CV, mistakes happen though. Ben Gordon was coming off a great yr, no one knew he would be complete trash.

A SA or Bos asst coach isnt what we need, we have done the up & coming asst thing before. I like sticking with Frank unless we can find a guaranteed upgrade.

Very well said, our roster is the way it is bc of Dumars. We have 3 great pieces & a bright future under Dumars currently.

Stay the course.

I think one of the hardest things for a GM to do in any professional sport is understand that it's better to move a guy a little too soon rather than a little too late.

I think it was a mistake to extend Rip and THEN trade Billups. I think resigning Max was a problem. Signing CV & BG were obviously colossal mistakes. And I HATED the Afflalo trade. But I was OK with the Iverson trade up until we blew that cap space.

good post

Byron Scott would be a name i'd be interested in talking to.

It would still come down to how any coach would handle Drummond, he is our big chance at ever being great again. Its all about him.

I don't think there is any amount of money that would ever convince Phil Jackson to coach this Detroit team.

again, Phil Jackson is not a viable option.
