The guy tries..but he is just better suited as an assistant coach

I don't blame Detroit for balking to guarantee his contract

Any reasonable coach would have put Roe and Drum in together a lot more often.

Any word on Joe? A Dumars decision would have to come down ASAP as well given they'd need to have a GM search and hire first and coaching candidates will start getting snapped up.

Not surprised and predicted it would happen today in the predictions thread.

Franks rotations were sketch and the players had stopped responding to him, but he came into a bad situation and I actually liked him.

Another year, another coach. This is another reason Joe needs to be following Frank out the door

I'm ok with this move. Stucky went backwards and Jerebko was ready to be moved for a bag of chips. Singler was overused, Max was WAY overused, Drummond was underused and Knight did not progress. I here Jackson wants to get back into the NBA.. I'd offer him $10mm/yr. He can Charlotte to be respectable.. Just saying!!

I don't want SVG but would welcome the idea of going after Nate McMillan, Jerry Sloan, or Bill Laimbeer!! Thoughts??

Phil Jackson? lol..better up that offer to $25mil a year

Nevermind, Phillip isn't going to waste his time with Detroit if he wants to coach a team.

SVG / JVG are the best options

mcmillan is a PG killer, he would absolutely **** up BK
sloan is too old and expensive
jackson wont come here
laimbeer is another unproven rookie coach
same with brian shaw

Phil wants to be given total reins - Gores being an LA guy would probably be open to that, but Jackson **** on the city of Detroit and isn't about to move to Detroit. He's hoping for the eventual Supersonic gig I think. Besides he doesn't want to coach from what I've read, though he'd probably just hire Brian Shaw to be his HC.

I don't think that was a pure Frank move. I think Joe had a hand in that. I don't blame Frank for wanting to leave or the Pistons firing him. We don't have good management. I think this unfortunately buys Joe D one more year, :(.

I can't see this buying Joe one more year - he either gets a 3 yr extension or he's out as well. What HC would come here with their GM on the last year of his deal?

I also don't see this buying Joe more time. This job is so unattractive partially because of Joe's inability to keep a goddamn coach.

Excellent point. I hadn't thought of that, but you're exactly right.
