Off season targets

I feel wee should not over pay this off season. Just build our team though the draft, but I'd like to target Tyreke Evans. He can play 3 postions and I think just like Josh ( if we don't resign him) needs a new start.

Agree completely on Tyreke. Bringing back Devin would be nice, also. Kevin Martin could be a nice replacement for Korver.

Wouldn't mind signing AL Jefferson. But not to a max contract.

Corey Brewer could be a nice fit. Otherwise, trading Josh Smith to Celtics for Jeff Green could be prudent.

JJ Hickson signing seems likely given our front court needs and his relationship to D Ferry.

Fill the rest of the roster through the draft.

BRing back Mike Scott.

I'd like to get Igoudala to a reasonable contract. But if the opportunity to get Dwight presents itself then we have to fight tooth and nail to get him

We should first adress our main weaknesses.

Corey Brewer and Samuel Delembert should be clear targets. Defense and size on the wing and a true defensive center on the paint. Dorrell Wright could be also an option, not as good on defense but better rebounder.

Then we can focus on going after big FAs like Howard or Paul or adrress a need like a starting SG with Mayo or Evans.

I don't like Hickson, he will be out or Portland because they are looking for a defensive 7 footer to pair with Aldridge, sounds familiar?.

I have doubts with Jefferson, I don't think he would fit so well witth Hoford.

Teague/L. Williams
Mayo/Jenkins
Brewer/1st round pick
Horford/Scott
Dalembert/1st round pick

I was actually thinking Hickson as a replacement for Zaza. Backup Center/PF.

Jefferson's post game and Horford's jump shooting could pair well. Defensively, there'd be some issues.

My fear with Mayo is that he duplicates the same skills as Lou Will, just at a higher price.

Al Jefferson is one of the top5 Centers in the NBA, an unrestricted free agent, he's only like 27, that's a no brainer. Forget about Howard, he's not coming here. Mayo isn't an option because we got Lou. Too much of the same. We need a SF who can play D with Smith gone. We def. need to trade at least a couple of picks away.

Mayo and Lou are similar, but Lou is 6'1" Mayo is about 6'5". big difference. Lou is a 6th man type player. Mayo is a bonafide starter. the Hawks need more players that can create and generate offence for themselves and other. right now all we have are Lou and Teague ( when he is in the mood) when he plays lackadaisical he hurts the team. I am a Josh smith fan, but I do not want him leading the break. so I feel if we can not get CP3 and/or D12. Al Jefferson and Mayo would be a damn good off season.

if we can keep Zaza and Devin we would be a legit threat with shooters every where and someone that can get his down low. which we have not had since I don't even remember when.......... yes we would have a complete basketball team. Dalmbert is not the answer. if we get D12 and Dalmbert to back him up then yes.

if this team jells I think they could give anyone a run for their money in the playoffs...... if they can Jell.

^ it is pointless to resign Josh if Dwight is not coming. might as well let just Josh and Dwight build a dynasty in LA if Ferry can get the two in ATL.

might as well just get one free agent and maybe make a Granger trade if the Pacers want to unload his big contract.

I will repeat my amazement at those that love Tyreke Evans who has every bit of the bad shot selection of Josh Smith without the defense and passing to make up for it.

I would target Jefferson, Brewer, Korver, Josh Smith, and Dalembert.

Like tcorbin said unless Dwight is coming we shouldn't re-sign Josh, he's a player who relies on athleticism and who's about to turn 28 this year. If we sign him to a 5 year contract for alot of money he'll be making alot when he's 33 and when his athleticism has just about worn out. It'll be Joe 2.0.

Understand the hesitation on Tyreke. But his game and career thus far reminds me of Jamal Crawford's. he's put up big numbers individually but hasn't won and has been inefficient.

On a strong playoff team with a good coach and defined offensive system, I think his talents could be harnessed.
His ability to play PG & SG and to score One-on-one could be a real boon to the right team. Maybe as a starter. Maybe as a super-sub. He's still so young. Just needs coaching and structure.

His shot selection can't be worse than Lou Will's, right?

Brewer is a guy see fitting in really well here. If Ferry chooses to build around AL, that is.

I too am hopeful that LA will try to make DH happy by Doing a S&T for Josh for Pau. He only has one year left, thus its not that big a gamble. Win-Win

We need someone that can draw fouls and Reke is the guy that can do that for us. Sacto is just a terrible place for player development. Evans could really use a new team. We could gain some versatillity in our back court with him and Teague. I say go for it.

6'11'', good FT shooter, long and athletic. Cheap pick up

You haven't seen enough of Pau to say he is a PF at this stage in his career. Pau always has had a center's skill set, and it's even more fine tuned than before. I'll agree that capspace would probably be more useful, but Gasol is also an expiring contract.

Which, for us, means he's a good fall-back plan if all other options fail. Problem is, to get him, we'd have to SNT Josh Smith to the Lakers this offseason, which might be BEFORE we'd have time to explore our other options,

LAL can't trade for an SNT player.

I'm not as good on the details on the new CBA and salary cap as I was on the last one, so maybe someone can chime in on some of the aspects to this. If I have everything correct though, here's the deal with Blatche:
Since no one picked up his contract when he was amnestied, he basically counts as a waived player. In these cases, the team waiving the player (in this case, Washington) would still be on the hook for the full amount of his original contract, but the amount of his current contract is forgiven. In this example: Blatche is making ~$7.1M this year from his original contract. Since BRK is giving him ~$900K, then WASH is giving him the rest. Basically, how much a team $$ under ~$8M offers Blatche over the next two years means nothing - he should still get the bulk of his salary from WASH.

Due to the length of the remaining amnestied contract and the amount, it makes the most sense for Blatche to remain with his current team for the vet mini until the amnestied contract lapses since he would then gain Bird Rights with BRK. Unless someone got very creative with their accounting, I'd be shocked to see him move anywhere.
