I love Iggy the player, but I probably wouldn't want to give him a big money 4 year deal, which he most certainly will be looking for. The risk of decline is just to big with him IMO. Just look at Gerald Wallace. Fairly similar game and Wallace's performance has dropped significantly over the last 1-2 years.

Iggy on a reasonable contract would be fine with me...Jefferson or Milsap would be fine too. I don't see Pau getting amnestied like alot of people think.

Probably better would be to get Iguodala and somehow flip him in a package for Love instead of getting rid of Parsons, so as to keep our ages lower.

I am not quite sure how you have come to the conclusion that Jones will be better than Horford in the long run. Horford is a complete player with size and smarts. Jones, right now, is simply a lengthy athletic guy with some potential.

Ew. I wrote that? Yeah, I'm not sure what I was thinking either. I still think he'll be good, but that must have been some tasty kool aid.

LarsV8 wrote:While obviously it would be better to keep Parsons, a rebuilding team isn't going to want a 30 y/o Iggy.

Exactly. I'd think Parsons has more value to us right now, as Iggy doesn't put us over the hump and limits us to a <2-3 year "contention" window unless we can flip him for someone else.

Sign Howard.

Trade Asik, Parsons, Trob for Kevin Love

Lin/Bev
Harden/Andersen
Delfino/Andersen
Love/Tjones/Dmo
Howard/Smith

I love Parsons but he's gotta be our best trade asset right now. Any deal with a star coming in will have Parsons leaving. That much i'm sure of.

I don't think they will go for that. Pek is a better offensive specimen than Asik and the poor guy will never get any burn playing with Adelman. A center that can't past out of the high post or roll to the basket and catch will not work in a Princeton. Parsons might get the nod over Kirelinko, but not right away.

Minny needs a shooting guard that can play off the ball. That's their last piece.

This is ofcourse predicated on the premise that Kevin Love wants out and Pekovic signed with other teams in free agency.

Hrmn... Pek is available? A 300 pound brick **** house of a center with foot work and post moves? You think Adelman would okay a sign and trade with Houston? But we give up a bit on interior D though...

Minny needs a shooting guard.

We got a lot of power forward prospects.

Toronto has a lot of wings, and a shooting guard or two. As does Golden State.

I donno, if we ask for Love, they'll want Harden. Besides, everyone asks for Love anways. But if Pek's gonna leave anyway, they'll probably match, but only up to a point because Rubio's rookie contract is coming to an end. Then he gets extended, so Taylor will have to pay tax through the nose if Minny's front office isn't too careful. We could make something like this work...

EDIT: Oh dang, Eric Gordon is on the market too. And Bledsoe is going to be out of the Clips budget... Maybe something can be done.

Not a fan for Milsap, the rockets offense seems good enough this season with little help from big guys. Milsap is a good scorer, but has never been famous for his scoring efficiency. I don't see the rockets overall offense become much better with this guy in team.

Rockets need some one can make a difference on D, like Ibaka. Since we are not getting him, and josh smith is set to be overpaid, why not try amir johnson? He is a great shot blocker can do what ever josh smith does on the defensive end, if not better, and his 8M contract is expiring in 2015.

I remember the raptors is somewhere around the tax line next season, may be they will do a firesale.

I was wondering the other day if Bledsoe would be an upgrade over Lin. I don't see him putting us over the top yet, but how far are we after that?

Bledsoe/Bev
Harden/Delfino
Parsons/Iono
Jones/DMo
Asik/Smith

What would happen if Bledsoe was 15-20% better next year than he was this year?
How does he fit in any offense we could make?

I'm not sure. I was willing to ponder about helping someone get Bledsoe if it means we get better low post scoring. If we can do it without giving up Asik, I'm all for it.

Just for the record, I'm still very much in favor of keeping Lin even if he stinks it up in the playoffs. The guards I listed are for netting us other pieces on our front line, especially if we get to rid ourselves of Royce White.

Maybe i just havent seen enough of Bledsoe, but i dont see any difference between the current team and that. Needs more than a maybe marginal upgrade at PG. (is Bledsoe even better than Lin?)

Absolutely need a massive upgrade at PF.

Yeah, I saw that option. Almost certainly makes more sense, too. Just that Bledsoe's intriguing.

As a side note, my attention has been WAY too fragmented lately. It's easy to see the impact on my analyses.

I have only seen a handful of Bledsoe games but when I do watch he usually has a nice game.
I feel like he is a combination of Lin & Bev so yea he may be an upgrade, but I doubt it pushes this team into the top tier, even though his nickname is Mini LBJ.

Houston needs a guy, any guy who can score from the post, when was the last time if ever a team won it all without a post scorer?
I could see Parsons develop one and imo he really should, but most likely it wont be enough. I can't think of too many realistic options.

I would love Cousins even though moofs might abandon the team...
Cousins needs Houston more than Houston needs Cousins, he needs Houston like Randolph needed Memphis.

I wish we had something the Kings would want, if they would take Lin, Jones, DMo anything besides Parsons, Harden, Asik would be cool, and then sign Bledsoe.

Bledsoe(Mini LBJ)
Harden
Parsons(White LBJ)
Cousins
Asik

2 Lebrons > 1 = instant contenders

im the only one who thinks lin and our pfs will make significant improvements next season? most of the players should be better next season since they're so young.

im not against trading/signing for a star player but i dont think we'll get one this offseason.
- i wanted dwight but lakers picked it up late in the season and dwight too so he's staying there. plus there's kobe and hollywood, he wants to be a movie star.
- i read that morey's gonna try to get cp3 too but that wont happen.
- if by some crazy chance minny trades love, they'll want harden from us. maybe they'll consider any two of asik/lin/parsons along with filler. or maybe a 3rd team. but minny has to do something to get things straight with their gm. love is way too good a player to let go cuz of some stupid bs. basically a smaller version of dirk who dominates the board.

there's a good shot to get the 2nd tier players like milsap, lma, smith, west, iguodala, etc. if we dont get a star player i hope we get a scoring pf along with better wing shooters and a good perimeter defender. we really need those 3 kinda players

I'm sure there are plenty who have faith in Lin/PFs... im not one of them though.

I lost faith in Lin when I saw video of him in either Harvard or HS i forget and he was still making the same exact mistakes he makes now.
Not to mention Harden/Lin is probably one of the worst defensive back courts in the NBA.

I agreed when Barkley said this team isn't "young", they aren't "wonderkids". The core Lin/Parsons are 25 in a couple of months Asik will be 27 and Harden is the only one under 25, he'll be 24.

The young guys are Jones/Robinson/Smith all 21 or just tuning 22 but I don't see future star from any of them.
Patterson/Morris were like 1 year older than Dmo, and Patterson's 1st year he looked to have some much more potential than all of those guys.
Sure I won't write them off but I won't hold my breathe for any of them, well maybe Jones.

Compared to a team like Utah their core Kanter,Hayward, Burk, Favors... all those guys are like 21. Kanter can't even drink legally.
That is what I'd consider "so young".

I mean right now this team is like those Atlanta Hawks teams for the past what 8=9 years? Where everyone kept calling them young and future contenders for many years, and how they shouldn't trade anyone. Well that team never quite made it.

McHale is a better coach than Drew/Woodson but even so I don't see this team being a contender unless they get a top talent.

Milisap, Smith, West, Iggy wont cut it.

While we're at it, let's get J.R. Smith, JaVale McGee, Michael Beasley, Andrew Bynum, and some MF'ing World Peace up in this bitch. We can change the team name to Houston Prozacs and hand out free pharmaceutical samples instead of bobble heads.

Of course, I also thought the Randolph signing was another classic Wallace foible, and they've been a 45-55 win team since, so there's that..., but if "Boogie" isn't the perfect nickname for an oversized outaged snotty juvenile brat like Cousins, I don't know what is.

I've been dealing with the Emperor-For-Life of **** Nation today, so I'm perhaps more acrimonious and curmudgeonly than usual...

rocketsballin wrote:im the only one who thinks lin and our pfs will make significant improvements next season? most of the players should be better next season since they're so young.

Nope, you aren't the only one who thinks they can improve. Players generally get better through 24/25, and we have a lot of 21-23 year olds. Outside of possibly Jones/Smith, though (or Motie according to some of you), I don't really see any of them capable of putting us over the top (next flip-flop in 3...2...1...), and even those two seem much more likely to develop into very good trade bait or backups than the actual direct solution themselves.

rocketsballin wrote:im the only one who thinks lin and our pfs will make significant improvements next season? most of the players should be better next season since they're so young.

I don't see anyone other than possibly Howard being acquirable. Given Howard's recent stretch, he'll probably resign with the Lakers then demand a trade.

If it wasn't for injury and PR fallout concerns, I'd probably go for a Harden/Love trade myself. Harden's quite possibly the best SG in the league, but Love's almost certainly the best PF.

i forgot to say but the point of my offseason pipe dream is to make this team significantly better and make some noise in next year's playoffs. we definitely dont contend with it hahaha. i dont think any elite players wanna go to the rockets. we gotta give them a good reason, which means making the team better and a deep playoff run.

maybe we have a good shot at getting love, MAYBE. but thats it, no ohter star players this offseason or next

we have 4 first round rookie pfs. i highly doubt we go 0/4 with them, thats a lot more than bad luck lol. i dont think any of them can be all stars for at least 2 more seasons. but they can be good off the bench. so that's at least 2 backup pfs nest season.

lin, harden, parsons, asik, smith, and bev are in a good position to get better next season. there's no guarantee all of them will, but they're all at a point in their careers where its a realistic possibility. thats 6 rotational players, the worst is smith. gives our team a bright future.

not saying keep everyone but morey has to show some faith in his players to improve themselves. trading everyone every season doesn't help in getting elite players.

so yeah thats that. we need 2nd tier players, a good (not average) perimeter defender, and a good 3pt shooter. plenty of trading pieces. plz get it done morey

I really would like Josh Smith on this team.

I very much enjoy watching him play and I find his headband to look very cool, which is weird because I generally don't like headband guys. The worst are the wristband guys, though.

Josh Smith also has a cool name and I very much like his facial expression, especially when things go wrong. He has great sock taste and wears cool pads.
I do not like shoes sometimes, but that's OK. If he's willing to come here for $14M or less, the Rocket should sign him IMO.
