And yeah, re: lebron's explosion & agility, I think the time off did wonders for his body. And I'm pumped that they're able to go regular season rotation for at least 1 round. He might not need to pile on minutes until the ECF.

Lebron's now at 16 straight playoff games of 25 or more points. His personal record is 17, Game 5 of the 08 Boston series to Game 6 against Orlando in 09.

Agreed, thought he looked as good physically as he ever has in a Miami uniform. I was legitimately surprised by that lefty dunk in traffic, thought that was a layup attempt for sure, and he was getting by his man with ease throughout the game and finishing easily. That double clutch layup in the first quarter reminded of Cleveland, I think getting that rest at the end of the season has been a big benefit for him.

One other thing, I think Lebron's an even better finisher now than he was as a Cav. He just never seems to miss the layup now.

Yeah, that's been my thought all season. Which is remarkable because I didn't think he was as good in either of the last two seasons.

SideshowBob, do you have the stats of the Heat's defensive rating since Chris Andersen has joined the team? I feel like they've been way better defensively, like top 5 good. I know some games won't be accurate due to Lebron, Wade, and Bosh sitting out, but I'm still curious.

If we include today's game

With Andersen (43 G), -1.0 defense. Without Andersen (40 G), +0.2 defense.

Controlling for Lebron: With Andersen (37 G), -1.5 defense, Without Andersen (40 G), +0.2 defense.

So not quite top 5 good, but they've definitely improved with him.

Did not think he had 27/10/8.

I feel like if he was challenged consistently tonight, he could have dropped 38/14/8. Only turned it on in spurts, and got major results in those spurts. Gonna be a crazy postseason.

What's the streak at if we discount sub .500 teams? Not everyone gets to play in a cupcake conference littered with injuries, and context is key in analyzing players.

Seems fluky that Jordan never had a longer streak, and even more odd is that the entirety of Jordan's streak occurred in the '98 postseason when wasn't quite Jordan anymore (though obviously he still managed to win MVP that year).

I still think 09 LeBron was better. He had a 38 usg% while rocking a TOV% under 9. He had a 128 O rating, 100 D rating. 35 PPG on .618 TS% while increasing his assists and rebounds. He did everything on offense while playing all out on D.

Jordan's 1st 16 gamer ironically included 3 games a sub .500 team...the 38 win Heat.

He only had a 12 game streak in 98 -- http://bkref.com/tiny/ZHcWv -- the 16 game streak spanned the 91 and 92 playoffs.

Producing better and being better are two separate things. His overall playoff production in 2010 was lower than 09 as well, but he was better in 2010.

And what you give you any doubt he wouldnt? Considering last year in the ECSF, ECF, and finals he had a streak where he scored 30 for several games in a row (all of which were better teams than the 2 you mentioned) and many people think he's even better this year.

The only way I can see his streak breaking is if he and the Heat destroy one of these teams so bad that he sits on the bench most of the 2nd half.

PS let me know if you notice a drop off in his play against the 'non-cupcake' western conference
