no "or" needed. that's exactly what i was saying.

he was a ref, he empathizes with them. thats the only angle i see the breen haters taking in this thread.

I'm still laughing at "He clearly hates Melo"

and...

"He was clearly rooting for the Celtics".

Whether hes a fan and all that jazz is besides the point. Ive watched a lot of basketball. I know when an announcer calls a game with a more favorable spin on one team over the other. This is what Breen did yesterday. If your good with that okay so be it. Everyone is different. Personally I'd rather watch someone who is trying to call a fair game. Also be aware Breen is a big part of the national image of the team, so don't complain later when the spin from the national press is negative...

I'm glad we don't have homer announcers like a lot of other teams (Celtics, Cavs, etc).

Breen is a lot different on ESPN AND ABC then he is with MSG. On MSG for the most part he is ok. On National televised games he consistently throws the Knicks under bus.

I hate Mike Breen. He always gets so excited for the opposing team. Never when we are doing good. "Melo begging for a foul" so annoying "Celtics playing physical defense" ugh

I was really pissed off at Breen when Garnet threw 2 guys on the floor and Breen said nothing. Then the next play Melo has to be careful because he's going to get another foul. I'd rather listen to Doris Burke than him.

Yo I hate that. You knock Melo for not playing defense, then when he does you say he's begging for a foul. Its comical. But Jeff Green plays aggressive defense on Melo. Throwing melo around its good defense. But Carmelo is begging for a foul. Thats when Breen becomes a bit annoying and the ipod comes on.

In the first quarter, Copeland made a wonderful defensive play. Anticipated what his man was going to do and drew an offensive foul. Far from a flop, then Breen says he flopped. Wtf was he watching?

Then Avery Bradley flops twice when Melo threw his hip out and he says nothing?

I've stated a lot in regards to Mike Breen but in closing, the reason why he's so heavily sought after is because he's one of the greatest play by play commentators in the game today. Just ask the likes of ABC, MSG & ESPN. One of the greatest.

Some people just don't know how to differentiate the difference between a Knick critic (Charles Barkley) when compared to an outstanding game caller of NBA basketball (Mike Breen).

At the end of the night while watching games on National Television, it's a feel good feeling while Breen's calling games, because I not only know but also understand we're listening to a man that's not only a Knick fan at heart but also grew up dreaming of calling Knick games dating back to his childhood days.

No one forces you all to listen to Mike Breen. You can't stand him? You wish not to listen to him as a Mike Breen critic? Fine, then do something about it. No need to complain. No one's holding your hand while forcing you to listen to this man. You don't wish to listen to Breen call games? Fine, then put the game on mute and call the game out loud to yourself with as much insight as possible...

Pointing out that he seems to be overcompensating on not seeming biased doesn't mean I don't want him as a Knick play by play guy. He's fantastic but I wish he would stop clearly taking digs against Knick players that he won't against some of the other popular NBA players/teams.

Btw, this was an amazing call by breen:

wow the breen nut riders are out in full force. if I lived in NYC or a place where I can get a simulcast I would tune him out. i enjoy Clyde though he does not hate but calls it like it is.
All I ask for is an evenly called game fair accross the board what kills me about the NBA is that it is not called fair and the announcer should be biased enough to call it like it is. And you know something he does not. that us the basis of a good announcer not being a homer or being biased but being fair and no-one here can say is fair when he calls a game. He supports the refs, he supports the other players even on msg. You want to know why he is on abc and espn because he will not do that. he is not the best but the most non controversial.
Hey Mike grow a pair and stick up for Melo you know he is a star too and the refs they can be wrong when making calls against the knicks. Just pretend he is playing for the cheat or any other team.

And for the post who says no one is making us listen to him but none is making you defend him

This thread is an example of how knowledgable NY fans are, I think the average fan doesn't catch the snide and unbalanced commentary of Breen. This thread should have a poll.

It will be interesting to see how he addresses that Boston article on Melo. Very very interesting. He will mostly say the right things in the intro like always but during game he's a bit tough on his team.

Again Breen is the best. But who says he's perfect.

I am sorry he is not the best not even close to that He is the safest that is the difference. I bet 3/4s of the people never heard Howard Cossell controversial but always fair said what was on his mind and that killed him but in my book he was the best because he was fair and called liked he saw them. if someone was getting done bad or a bad call he would say it.
