Pelicans may trade Eric Gordon

Post#1 » by scrop32 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 12:24 am

per wiretap: "Dell Demps said on Monday that the New Orleans Pelicans plan to use their cap space this summer and are open to trade possibilities -- even those that include Eric Gordon.

"We want to maximize opportunity to use cap space," Demps said.

Gordon signed a contract extension with New Orleans last offseason, but there have been rumors about the displeasure between he and the organization."

i'd be ecstatic if we get him without trading bull and moose
it seems that they want flexibility and we have tons of cap space this summer

I don't know how we would acquire him without giving up Monroe or Drummond

He would be a perfect fit. We can trade our pick, Singler, and raw capspace. I'm not sure how much the Pelicans will be asking for considering that everyone knows Gordon doesn't want to be there, his injury history, and his large contract.

Easy. He's a malcontent, constantly injured, overrated, undersized chucking SG making $15 million a year for the next 3 years. Dude hasn't been healthy since his rookie year and with that contract I wouldn't trade for him unless New Orleans gave us a pick.

Homie is the next Brandon Roy, and I don't mean that in a good way.

After weighing the pros and cons I dont think he would be a good fit for this team. All of the rumors saying he wants out and isnt pleased makes me think why would he be any happier here.Hes also injury prone and has a large contract,it isnt a postive for us in my book to pick him up and with us being in a great position going forward I dont want to start off this rebuild with adding a guy like gordon with all of his baggage. In all honesty I would rather keep stuckey or keep playing knight at sg.

Depending on what it would cost, i would love to have him. Stuckey+CV+our pick seems fair. NOL gets expiring and another pick to build around Davis.

Let's give up our pick so we can watch Gordon play 40 games a year and only show up for 20 of them. Great idea. Let's throw the max at Greg Oden and Brandon Roy then use whatever cap space we have left to try and coax Darius Miles out of retirement while we are at it.

Yeah we shouldn't have to give more than Stuckey up. We're taking the risk.

Our 56th pick, sure. Not 7 though. We do need to give up any real assets to get him honestly, dude has negative value. Offer cap relief and call it a day.

Where do you guys get that he has negative value?

Because he didn't want to play for the worst team in the league?

Because he milked his injury?

None of that takes away from the fact that he's a extremely talented player and healthy one of the best SG's in the league. On RealGM on the T&T board he may have negative value, but in the NBA there's no such thing as injury prone. There's his physical which he has to pass in which i'm sure GM's will do their due diligence on the health of his knee's and body.

Because he's been woefully inefficient, has a history of serious injury and is on a max contract.

He's had microfracture surgery. It is a huge deal.

Gordon makes 15 million a year.

Gordon has averaged less than 50 games per season over his 5 year career.

Gordon has never been to the playoffs.

Gordon doesn't want to be in NO.

The Pelicans have absolutely zero leverage. Whatever the market value is for an undersized, injury prone grossly overpaid, chucking SG is New Orleans will get way less than that. People thinking we should give up cap space and our first rounder for a guy with that track record and that wants out are insane.
