I don't get why? You guys need to have some sort of way to develope. Starting over every year ala Detroit isn't doing anything.

HOWEVER I do think there are better coaches out there that's why he was fired. Not because he didn't an oay job.

WHAT A SHOCKER!!! OH MY GOD!!! I did not see this coming at all. I hope it means Phil Jackson 8-)

...but it's more likely to be Mike Brown in which I wouldn't be mad at since he'll at least make us a somewhat respectable defensive team.

Wut.

Dunlap frustrated the hell out of me this year with some of his rotations (MKG vs. BG), but in no way do I think he should be out already. Isn't the whole idea to develop the young guys? Wasn't that his forte? Obviously I don't know what's best for the team in comparison to MJ/Cho (maybe more than Higgins, though), but I don't get the logic.

Dunlap Will Not Return as Head Coach of Charlotte Bobcats

April 23, 2013

Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that the team has relieved Mike Dunlap of his duties as head coach. The search for his successor will begin immediately.

“Rich Cho and I conducted our season-ending review and met with Coach Dunlap to reflect on this season. As an organization, it was decided that we needed to make a change with the head coach position,” Higgins said. “We want to thank Mike for his contribution and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Dunlap was hired as the fifth head coach in franchise history on June 20, 2012 and posted an overall record of 21-61.

I don't guess MJ and Cho were joking around when they said changes were coming.

He did his job in developing the players, now Im guessing they think its time to get a real coach in here.

Let's not act as if Mike Dunlap was anything more than a stopgap. I guess the bleeding is over and we're going after 30+ wins next season. This is going to be a interesting offseason.

obviously the exit interviews did not go well for dunlap. had to be more than just the vets that complained. seems like another sam vincent situation.

there is no way MJ can make the same mistake 3 times and hire another unproven coach. then again, we have failed with the proven coaches as well.

View from afar: While Dunlap had nothing to work with, he clearly wasn't ready to be an NBA coach based on trouble with players, rotations.

There were lots of people lauding the Bobcats for thinking outside the box when the hired this cat. What they were being was dumb and cheap.

Please don't tell me that we're finished tanking and that were choosing 2014 of all years to be decent. I expected Dunlap around next year for the sole reason of player development. Garbage in game coach, but still this does come as a surprise.

Yes. RT @AaronLong92 @mikecranston1 Got to blame Cho too, not everything is on MJ, he's made mistakes (plenty of them) but Cho did this too

Fire Higgins, Bring in Phil Jackson to be coach/GM to work with Cho as new President of Player Personnel. This is shocking though, really didn't think MJ had this quick a trigger finger.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Michael Jordan’s hired 4 Bobcats coaches: Sam Vincent (1 year), Larry Brown (2 yrs), Paul Silas (2 yrs), Mike Dunlap (1 yr). But a nickname!
