Thoughts on Mike Brown as next Hawks Head Coach?

Mike Brown is a Princeton offense type of guy.

I'm not saying he is a mastermind of the Princeton, but that he has possibly contemplated on using it before he arrived with the Lakers.

Not sure I buy that. Out of a 481 possible games, spanning 6+ seasons, Mike Brown utilized the Princeton offense a total of 5 games.

He was so unfamiliar with the system, he had to hire an extra assistant coach just to install it. (A former rival.)

He was an Iso-coach for 99% of his time as Head Coach. Had he wanted to run a Princeton offense, his GM would have gladly acquired players to ft that style of play.

Bad choice. He only coaches D, whereas if you're going to remove Drew you want either a rebuilding coach (not Mike Brown) or an elite coach (not Mike Brown). Which type you want depends on the offseason you have, so I think the coaching hire will wait. Your front office is run by a former Spur though, so I think the coach will be from the former Popp tree (if any), not Doc Rivers.

In 2000, Brown was hired by Gregg Popovich as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs. While with the Spurs, Brown's teams won at least 58 games each season. He also was the head coach for the Spurs' summer league teams in Boston and Salt Lake City.

How can you work with Popovich, then still have no offense coaching except ISO. The ball movement in SAS should have made him a better offensive coach just by watching games, even if he was working on defense.

Now, Brown as a defensive coach is a good pick.

Seems like a good fit for him and the team.

Also, it prevents us from hiring him. And Eddie Jordan is now at Rutgers. A happy ending for everyone.
