Blue Jays this season

Blue jays are really disappointing this year and everyone keeps telling me it's early on. Well I think this is the product we will have all year. And right now my expectations have dropped. I will give them another month.

How much games until you write off this season ?

Its that easy to lose fans like you huh. I guess people only want to watch success and feel apart of it. Other than enjoying the sport for what it is.

I'll watch all year regardless of whether they live up to expectations, the way I have other years when the Jays had no expectation of making the playoffs.

Never. But if you're thinking about jumping ship, I hear the Maple Leafs bandwagon still has a few spots left!

I typically leave at the end of May. When June comes around, you can always find better things to do outside than watch a game. And then you really only watch if you happen to be home and a game happens to be on tv.

But that's previous years. It's been so long since we've contended, it's hard to say with this season. If we're 5 games out by June, it's still worth watching. If we're 10 plus out, maybe tune out until (hopefully) they get back in the race.

But for them to contend, they'll have to become more than just a HR hitting team, imo.

I have to say the "how much games" construction is a little odd, and it was repeated in both the HL and body of the OP.

Not trying to be a jerk (though maybe succeeding in spite of myself).

I usually stop paying attention when it's clear that we have no legitimate shot at making the playoffs. When in the summer that occurs depends on just how bad they are in a given season. It's also hard to watch when there are boatloads of injuries to key players. Watching scrubs playing futile ball isn't my ideal way to spend the summer.

I've been a casual watcher through the painful 2000s, and I'm a casual watcher now. Even if they're seemingly out of it by June I'll follow the occasional game or so every week. I'm not a diehard fan.

As for how many games before I stop believing this team will contend for the playoffs? If we're 8-10 games under .500 by the end of May I'd be hard pressed to think they'd find a way out of the hole AND still get to the playoffs. That's too massive a swing for even good teams, imo.

But if you're a casual fan thinking about jumping off the bandwagon, wait until the all-star break. Even if they're 6 or 7 games back of first place at that point, they have the talent to have a huge second half.

I try to watch as many games as I can no matter what the record is.

This offseason I was really excited about all the moves until they brought back Gibbons. But that optimism is still there for this team.

Well, if they continue to stink it up around August, I won't watch as much. I'll prioritize other activities over the Jays. Either than that, there's not really a point where I'm "done" watching, ie- Raptors.
