I'd start with:
Our pick, Knight, and Singler
for
ORL pick, Harris, and Hedo (and maybe another contract)
ORL gets their PG, still stays in the lottery, and saves at least $12 million instantly in the process.
So....does this deal involve blackmailing the Magic GM?
I don't mean to be a jerk...I just think this is well...robbery.
How so??
ORL's main position of need is PG. If Knight was in this draft, he'd be the first PG to be taken.
Him + our pick at least equal the pick - especially in this weak draft.
Then Singler and $13+ million in instant cap space for Hedo and Harris.
ORL after the trade:
Knight / Nelson
Afflalo / Moore / Lamb
Harkless / Singler
Davis / Nicholson / Harrington
Vucevic / O'Quinn
+the rights to our lottery pick.
I honestly don't think you get it. Literally everyone knows that Knight is not worth that much. With all the info already on Knight based on his NBA performance he would never be taken number one. He is a mediocre PG by every statistic. He is a poor passing PG, a poor shooting PG, and his PER is 12, a grand total of 3 points below the average player. Orlando isn't even trading for a PG if they're trading for Knight. Knight isn't even worth a top 15 pick in this draft.
This isn't even accounting the crazy addition of Harris in the trade. Harris has been 49x better than Knight this season. He's played 27 games with the Magic and has already compiled 9 double doubles. How many double doubles has Knight produced in 2 years? 6. Harris is a better player in every statistic and has much more potential. While it's true that they need a PG, they wouldn't sell one of their best players for a mediocre non PG. Harris himself could draw a top 5 pick in this draft.
They don't even need to trade Hedo. They are a REBUILDING team and Hedo is the only bad contract on their team. They aren't going to mortgage their future just to get rid of a person that they don't need to get rid of. In all actuality they probably want to keep him so that they can meet the minimum salary cap number next year without hurting their future this offseason by paying a player like OJ Mayo big money and a long contract. Singler is worth a second round pick AT BEST.
Literally no portion of that trade works for Orlando and you should feel bad.
