The Blazers have had about the worst luck of any team possible. Remember - they had Roy who was challenging Kobe for best wing in the league. They were looking at a Roy/Oden/Aldridge combo for years to come. Then it all fell apart due to injury. But Oden made a LOT more sense given that combo.

Oden was a once in a generation defensive talent who would have been decent on offense. Not as physically gifted as Howard but he used his skills much, much better.

People forget he was great in the National Championship game, playing lefthanded vs a stacked Florida team.

I just read the WT thing about Phil Jackson interested in a front office role on a developing team and immediately thought he might be eyeing Cleveland...though I could also see him working with MJ in Charlotte which would be a very interesting reunion.

I think it's because MSG is going into phase three with the renovation.

The Rockets will pursue Dwight Howard in free agency and sources say he has a newfound respect for Van Gundy after a challenging season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The D'Antoni experience was an eye-opener.

If ATL can get Dwight Howard (hometown kid previously reluctant to play in his hometown) then you overpay for his best friend Smith. I don't know their cap situation but give Josh Smith $11MM per if you can afford it AND "IF" you can sign Dwight to a Max. If not, stay firm around $10MM per and dare him to walk. However, ATL would have to consider overpaying for that defensive trio (Howard-Horford-Smith); rebounding & shot-blocking would be nasty and turn most teams into pure jump-shooting offenses - be very effective come "playoff" time.

All in all, I believe Josh comes down a little in his MAX contract asking price if his buddy Dwight considers/ gets onboard.

Thugger HBC wrote:The risk for Durant was his strength, not his ability to play, his concern was his durability in the sport.

Oden was a beast coming into the draft and his injury was his wrist, in which had no effects when he led Ohio State to the championship game racking up over 20/10 and i think 5 blocks.

His knees became an NBA injury, dont recall him having any knee issues prior to draft.

the media PANNED durant cuz he couldnt bench 185....I mean who cares, this is bball, not the worlds strongest man competition

there was a report that oden had been injured every year since 7th grade

He really has done a good job, the next step is to settle the coaching situation.

Interesting game in Atlanta....a big frontline, physical play can really throw Indiana completely off---they are struggling against Petro/Johnson and Horford along with Smith. Kenyon and Tyson can throw those guys off and they have absolutely no one to guard STAT.

I might be getting ahead of myself but I almost expect the Knicks to win in 5 games vs. Indiana. That team can't stay with us at all and it seems they're gonna have tough games ahead. It's important to finish Boston and rest our guys---then jump out on Indiana early...Injuries are the only thing that can keep us from the ECF.Just stay healthy guys...

Anyone else read that story on the wiretap about Goudelock being broke? He's broke after making $425,000 last year and then getting paid $700 a week this season. So it's not like he was unemployed for the last year.

How stupid are these guys?
