I don't think so tbh. He's a very good defender for sure but I think his defense gets more notice because of his name.

Well he has an argument for DPOY. Was he robbed? No. But Marc Gasol winning it is highly questionable.

M. Gasol deserved it. He anchors an elite defense. LBJ is great defensively, but robbed...? Hardly. Just the first take crew being a bunch of idiots...again.

What a joke. He's not even currently a top 5 defender. Gasol, Chandler, Noah, Asik, Ibaka are all better, just to name a few.

DPOY has to be a game changer defensively. The fact that MIami/Bron fans still use Derrick Rose from 2 years ago as an example of Lebron's defense says something about his ability to lock players down.

Let's see him at least limit KD this year enough so that KD doesn't outscore him in the finals
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Thats just not true. Battier does do his fair share on Melo/KD and such but LeBron goes out there and plays against 1-4 and maybe a 5 if theres a switch somewhere. Battier cant keep up with guards, he can barely keep up with Melo (who lights him up everytime). Battier might start out on other teams best players but come crunch time LeBron is on them. Battier cant guard Rondo, Rose, Westbrook, Parker, Harden, Rose(when healthy), like LeBron can.

robbed not the right term to use

lebron is an excellent defender and it is noted by his all first team D selection so it's not like he wasn't acknowledged or dismissed.

He is a DPOY calibur player but i don't see why he should win it when his role within Miami dictates saving him for offensive duties and the playoffs... He is only required to go all out on defense on occasion and when he does it is absurd, but that really isn't what DPOY is about

If the biggest argument against LBJ is he wins too many awards then yes he got robbed.

My theory is that they'll give it to him in the year that they don't give him an MVP from voter fatigue as a means of compensation.

Exactly. LeBron was robbed, plain and simple. Gasol winning the award is a joke. Not even a better defender than Hibbert or Noah. And lucky as hell Dwight isn't quite 100%

Lebron robbed? Why not talk about the perimeter defenders who are not only better than lebron but also put full effort night in and out...

To be robbed of an award like this, it implies that he was head over heals the most impactful defensive player in the league. Which is simply not in the ballpark of being true. LBJ is a great defensive player, but he wasn't the best defensive player in the league this year (let alone being so far ahead that he was robbed).

Gasol was a debatable pick, but it doesn't even really matter as it's not like LBJ was next in line in my books. George, Hibbert, Duncan, Allen were all after imho. I mean, the Heat were 9th in the league for DRTG. The reason LBJ got as many votes as he did is more to do with who he is, than the defensive impact he had this year.

Lebron might not be the absolute best perimeter defender, but how many of the guys better than him play near as much time guarding the post and rebounding at the rate he does? For that matter, how many guys in the post guard the perimeter and can generate the amount of turnovers he does? That's his significance on the defensive end, he impacts the Heat on all levels defensively and though he may not be absolute best at each category, he does it all very well.

Typical SAS. LeBron finishing second was a joke yes, but because he shouldn't have been top 5, not because he should've won. Duncan, Gasol, Allen, George, Hibbert were all easily more impactful this year, just off the top of my head. LeBron is great on defense, but his effort wasn't as consistent this year, and he's not as dominant as a lot of people like to say. Because of his overall dominance right now, they conclude he must be at an all-time defensive best as well, but his effort this year has been inconsistent and not even to the level of say, LeBron last year or two years ago.

Reading over this, I sound kind of like a "hater", but I swear I love LeBron. It's just that **** like this pisses me off when it gets taken seriously at all. This is like someone saying Vince Carter got robbed of 6MOTY, for something I'd consider comparably ridiculous.
