I'm a fan. Longer and more athletic at the end. Very needed.

He looked pretty damn impressive in the NFL Network highlights. Good enough for me.

Like it, don't love it, considering Patterson and Ogletree were on the board. Lots of upside here though... I mocked him to us after the Senior Bowl.

I'll ask the one question we are all wondering.

Is he tough?

I envision him as a 5-tech, but many struggle to see a true position for him.

Sounds like he can play on the line and on the outside as a pass rusher.

This strikes me as a BPA, figure it out later pick.

He's not a typical 3-4 2gapping end.

He's not a perimeter rusher. He's a hand in the dirt Dlineman.

Given what was on the board, and not figuring in trading back, I like the pick. If he can put on the pounds and play DE I'm for it. I agree that his tape was impressive (shocking, I know). Didn't watch much UCLA this year, but I caught them twice maybe. Did pick him out, but nothing jaw-dropping.

I trust the pick. Not upset.

I find it interesting that with Perry and Jones, we've got two guys that are pretty much pure power players in our front 7 taken in back to back years.

Both are extremely fast for their size too. Jones had a top 10 40 time for his position.

Good quote from Combine here from #Packers DE Datone Jones about wanting to be like @JJWatt and his style of play:
"(I want to be) like a guy like J.J. Watt. I feel like the game is changing. There’s more versatile defensive linemen in today’s game.
You don’t really see every-down defensive linemen now. You see a guy who plays first and second down, then goes and sits down. Then another pass-rush specialist comes in on third down and takes his spot. I want to be a guy who can play every down."

(on what a team will get if it drafts him) "They’re getting a guy who plays with maniacal effort. A guy who wants to be the best, the best guy out there. That’s what they’re getting. I don’t care if DeMarcus Ware is on the team or whoever, I want to be the best player. I’m not saying I’m better than those guys, but I want to be the best on the team. A guy who wants to make every play possible. When you talk about NFL football, I want you guys to talk about Datone Jones. 7 minutes ago

The two things I like about this, as basically as possible:

1. I can see the intrigue with this guy
2. If he hits, the positive impact on the team is enormous.

The striking thing about the Nebraska video above is how awful Taylor Martinez is. Embarrassing.

Neal was pretty much the same as a DL. Powerful and athletic. TT loves his freaks up front on D.
