Wonderful article that sums up the rational perspective perfectly.

Great read. It's like he summarized our threads, which, #14 on the way! :)

Thanks for the link!

I also wanted to ask this...........

How many people have you guys heard of that tore their acl in practice or really hurt themselves in practice in the NBA?

Why does all these injuries happen in the games but not a lot in practices?

Seems kinda different to me considering that practices, in my lifetime, were harder than games.

Think about it, the 12 month was the long end of the estimate and he was on time / ahead of schedule to be cleared, meaning he was on the track to being normal, then something went wrong to make him be, not normal.

1. What is this 8-12 month thing anyway? Is that when you're cleared to play in games or is that when you're cleared to practice without limitations?

2. Is the 8-12 month recovery time including play, like is that for certain? This needs to be cleared up because it's causing a lot of confusion. Some don't know when it becomes mental vs physical and if the mental can only be handled outside of games

3. Then they need to change the recovery estimates because 8-12 months seems too long for people. Kyrv, you said it doesn't take 12 months to recover unless something went wrong, then why the heck does the recovery say 8 to 12 months? If you're right then it makes no sense to put that as a recovery time length.

With that said, I believe Rose should be playing. I believe him when he says that he just not ready but I also believe that playing in games would be the best course of action for his rehab.

But because doctors say 8-12 months he's within his rights to do what he's doing. If he doesn't feel right within the 12 months after surgery then what can really be said?

I'm not sure what you are saying, that everything is normal, but at 12 months and one day, there is a problem?

The recovery dates have been listed here many times. It doesn't take 12 months to recover. The Knicks didn't pretend it took 8 to 12 months when Schumpert got hurt the same day as Rose.

It doesn't matter what the 12 month thing 'includes' because it's not relevant. It doesn't take 12 months to recover, and it doesn't take 7 months after being cleared to return to the court. Unless something is wrong.

So maybe something is wrong, but as mentioned so many times, none of the explanations are 'good'. Whether we guess right or wrong, it's not good.

To be honest I'm sure which explanation I'm hoping for.

All of the ACL injuries this century were listed. The people who didn't come back had big problems. Not the kind we want. So health-wise it's actually better if he can play now, which is where all evidence points to anyway.

Nothing official, but when they showed him receiving the MVP trophy on a "Chicago Basketball" mix video on the big board, I'm pretty certain I heard a few boos. Mostly cheers for sure, but it seemed like there were a few boos mixed in. Anyone else?

What I'm trying to say is what's the point of saying 8-12 months? Some say take as long as you need. Some, like you, say that if the reovery takes 12 months then something happened. From the very beginning, if Rose took 12 months then people were going to worry. That leads me to say that we need to change that recovery period because it seems flawed.

That's why you don't like talking about what's included in the 12 months because you don't believe that it takes 12 months. But the doctors, same people who people get mad at Rose at for disobeying, said 8 to 12 months. I agree that he should be playing. But why say 8 to 12 months if that includes a set back?

Kyrv, I don't have a problem with you saying that he's not rehabbing properly because I agree with that. What I have a problem with is the 8 to 12 month recovery period if that includes set backs. Doesn't that seem odd. Other injuries give a time period for just the recovery then if their was a set back they give a new estimate.

Seriously Phil? .... if he says he's not ready, he's not ready. He's got nothing to prove to you or anyone else. He has shown his toughness over and over again. I'm a C's fan, but this article is bogus. STFU

Take your time Rose. If you get hurt coming back too soon, the same people who complain that they pay money to see you will be the first people talking about it's time to trade you.

The second quote is my favorite because it's nothing but the truth.

Not, it's not, he's making up the reactions of other people for events that may not even happen.

Not, the truth.

" if he says he's not ready, he's not ready"

Plus, we were told in December he wouldn't be ready. And again in February. And I'm sure that normally when this internet tough guy MTshamrocker tells people to "ST*U", it works, but I'm going to guess this time it may not work.

"Take your time Rose. If you get hurt coming back too soon"

STOP RUSHING HIM

"the same people who complain that they pay money to see you"

Strawman alert.

I think he deliberately sits at the end of the bench where you can't see him on TV. He must know that that spot is behind the basket from the main camera angle lol

I won't believe for sure he's not playing until the season over and he hasn't played.

But...we appear to be in the minority! :D
