@asu MVP,
Just don't respond to that ****. This guy always defends people like blanks and hunter. I swear he is a troll. Anyone who can talk bad about Jerry C and then defend sarver in any shape or form is a few cans short of a six pack.
I stopped responding to anything he says. Just like when he responds to this.

I think you are a previously waived poster, and time will tell if you are or are not. So KoW has nothing to do with name calling, but we both knew that.
I looked at the purchase as debt vs non debt value,but to placate you, from now on I'll say more than half the value of the team. But shame on you for arguing when you did not even know how much the team was sold for.
I called you pig to show you how immature you sound, duh. Honestly, I have no clue what you are saying anymore. First I am a sausage, then I become a cow, and now I am a "kow?" I have no idea what language you are speaking at this point, please just stop. I am getting some good laughs out of this though, thanks for showing me how grown of a man that you are mister 70's

And I'm sorry for not knowing the exact amount the Suns sold for, I knew it was around 400, but again just meant the fact that the team's value is currently at around 600 million. So whatever debt Sarver incrued, obviously he has more than made up for it at this point, which was his plan all along.
And either way, you said that 200 million = 400 million.....so who doesn't know their facts again?

here you go boys... read it. I was surprised. Wolf in Sheep's clothes?

Colonjello is not the 'saint' you make him out to. The guy is a shrewd businessman who had no problem bending over Joe Public to make his millions.
His basketball legacy* is one thing.... but don't paint this guy up with a halo and wings. Hey, Meyer Lansky was a snappy dresser too.
* 0 and 38 I believe.... yes, they made some runs, but JC wasn't the king Midas many think. They sure stepped in some sh!+ along the way. You peewee blow hards who were cutting your teeth on the '93 Suns need to realize that some have more history with Colonjello than what your limited fan-time has accumulated. I am not saying he was a bad owner, but I sure wasn't sad to see him go. Face it....he gave up... Abandoned ship, and there wasn't any 'woman and children first' call. He sold out... sold out on me , sold out on you. The tax payers of AZ are still paying him AND we have Sarver. Thanks Jerry.

Great article Frank. Problem is it is hard to get some of the doubters to read and analyze anything as most of their posts are simply gut feelings and wishful thinking. As you suggest Jerry wasn't perfect but he did help revitalize the downtown area. I would say the local businesses reap quite a profit and produce a nice tax base for Phoenix before and after D-Backs and Suns games. He built it and they came. But he ran away pretty quick with pocketfuls of dough afterwards.

That was a pretty good read. Obviously the taxpayers are going to foot the majority of the bill for any stadium that is built in any state, that's just how it goes. We get a team, they get a stadium to field that team. But didn't know how great the perks really were. That's crazy, no wonder Sarver bought the team then

Good read though. Thanks

Thank RDog for that.... he posted it a couple weeks ago.
Makes you wonder who was negotiating on behalf of Phnx/AZ. These professional franchises have municipalities over a barrel.... especially if the product is a viable source of entertainment. That lease/deal is a golden goose.

I never trust anything done behind closed doors when people with plenty of cash are involved. Hush hush deals are rampant everywhere you go, it's sickening. I'm sure whoever was negotiating received a nice check from Colangelo's people for that kind of deal. I understand a sports franchise brings revenue to the state, but at least make the deal a little more fair for the taxpayers who don't happen to watch basketball like us
