Statistically Matthews and Mayo are pretty close... Mayo averages a few more assist but thats merely bc he's a combo guard with the ball more in his hands and is typically more of a volume shooter. Whereas Wes picks his spots in the flow of the game and he tends to defend the opposing teams best player.

This is true... They both fit the roll of game changing / 6th man / instant scoring type of player, but I would much rather have Matthews who is a better defender, brings more "heart" "motor" and has better leadership inside the locker room.

I wonder if we could convince the Bucks to trade us Larry Sanders. Maybe his underwhelming playoff performances lower his value? Leonard+ #10? Leonard #10, Mathews for Sanders& Goodens crap contract?

Given his Attitude. I'd hold out on that last deal.

it's a wash statistically in most areas. Mayo averages more assists, but also more turnovers. Matthews has better efficiency. They score at about the same rates. And that's all based upon this season when Mayo had a career year. Historically, Matthews is better

but Synergy develops some interesting in-depth stats

on offense, Matthews averages 1.02 points/possession. That ranks 40th in the NBA among all players. Mayo averages 0.94 points/possession. That only ranks 154th in the NBA. 40th vs 154th. Mayo is a little better in isolation because of his better handles. But Matthews is better in P&R, spot-up, and off-screen...the team game

on defense, it's an even bigger gap then on offense. Matthews gives up 0.82 points/possession. That ranks 92nd in the league. Meanwhile, Mayo gives up 0.91 points/possession. That ranks 309th in the league. For chrissakes, 308 NBA players did better then Mayo. Eric Maynor gave up 0.88 points/possession as a Blazer and he sucked on defense. And Mayo had the benefit of playing on a much better defensive team then Portland

in other words, Matthews was significantly better on the offensive end while crushing Mayo on defense. And, as you say, he has more "heart & motor". And he's a great locker room presence and a glue guy. The character thing. That has significant value and it's never been a Mayo strength

I repeat, Matthews IS better then Mayo

No doubt here, not even close. Honestly Matthews heart/motor are higher than any Blazer & 3/4 of the entire NBA. Its why his talent may be really backup 2 at best but i'd hold on to him as long as I can because hes one of those guys you always want on your team.

Lillard/Aldridge yes

the other two, meh

I applaud your support for your players though, Greg Monroe is the best C in the East IMO lol

I love Sanders! This is one trade I would make and hope Olshey can pull off. I'd prefer Leonard + 10 for Sanders, but if we had to take back a guy like Drew Gooden with his 2 yr 13 mill left... I would be ok with it and include Freeland or Pavlovic to preserve our cap space.

Sanders has a better interior defense and shot blocker than Leonard, at 24 averaging near 10/10 n 3 blocks he has the ability to be very effective next to LMA. Went to VCU (shaka smart) with Maynor, great work ethic and would add to the team chemistry.

Count me as another who'd love Sanders but I highly doubt they give him up. Let's hope that Hammond loves Leonard for some reason.

LOL....keep on hugging Mayo's jock

yeah, Mayo is so good that Memphis wouldn't offer him the QO and he couldn't find a deal better then JJ Hickson's

Mayo, Randy Foye, Marcus Thornton, Jordan Crawford, Ben Gordon, Jason Terry...they all do about the same thing and are about at the same level, and none of them are as good as Matthews, let alone as good as Batum

Greg Monroe is not even the best center on his own team.

If we don't like the talent at 10, I'd be all for Jordan for the 10th pick + Freeland. He and Leonard could be good together. DJs contract also expires at the same time as LMA and We$ so if we want we can blow it up in 1 in a half to 2 years.

he played 24 mins today in a loss and still got 8 rebs and 4 blocks. If Mem wins the series it could tempt the LAC with Paul's FA bill waiting.

I suppose you should never underestimate the cheapness of Donald Sterling, but even with a new max deal for Paul, the Clippers should have no trouble staying out of the tax next season, And the following season, Butler's contract will be gone. Additionally, Jordan is a big part of "Lob City" and that sells a lot of tickets. Sterling will certainly pay attention to that factor

besdes that, Jordan's aggregate defensive numbers aren't really those of a dominant defender. The Clippers are 6 points worse defensively when he's on the floor then when he's not. His opposing C's have an eFG% of 50% and post PER's of 16. And he gives up 0.86 points/possession which only ranks 168th in the league

so you have to wonder how much of his rep is based upon substance and how much is based on highlight reels.

Let's wait until after April 28 which is the last day a player can declare for the draft.

All it would take is Marcus Smart deciding to declare for the draft for that would
make our #10 pick much more valuable in a trade for he's a top 3 pick.

If that happens I hope we chose the player and not trade it.

My number 1 goal in the draft is probably to effectively acquire Dieng in the draft without reaching. Bleacher Report have him 'mocked' at 24 to New York. If we could trade our picks 39,40 and 45 for let's say 22 + 55 then I think we should. It relives pressure off us if we can't get someone like Dalembert in free agency (and are forced to potentially overpay in a trade).

The risk is that if someone grabs Dieng before us, then our #10 pick has already been chosen so that won't have as much value in a trade, unless of course we picked a player at #10 who is desirable to other teams trading a centre.

Shabazz/Len/McCollum being potential draft choices at #10 really makes me want to keep the pick. (I think it's almost certain that one of them will be there).

I agree, except I'm not on the Dieng bandwagon. Withey would be nice at the 22 or 23.

I can seriously see Dieng jumping up into the lottery with this draft. Not Top 10, but 12 to 15 range is a possibility with a good workout.
