He's going to be out indefinitely and will be having knee surgery.

Aw man, even though that increases Rockets' chances in this series, I would never want that to happen to any player

I hate to see injuries like this. Very tough break for OKC

More worried about Beverley... hope Perkins doesn't go after him next time he goes into the lane.
People are sending death threats to Bev on twitter... smh

They aren't even 100% sure(although it is most likely) it was a result of Beverley collision and they said it happen because of him, Westbrook played the rest of the game, running just as hard and fluid as before the collision.

Its possible he tore it a while ago and has been playing on it since, or he tore it later on in the game.

I just hate people blaming someone for playing hard.
Westbrook will come back fine he is young... hope Bev has tough skin.

Terrible. I don't wish injury on anyone.

HOWEVER... if we don't win at least ONE game now... we suck

Thank God the next 2 games are in Houston. I can see possible cheers from our fans we he steps on the court tomorrow. But the game in OKC. My God hopefully security is tight during that game.

Kendrick Perkins ‏@KendrickPerkins 16h
I'm sorry to piss people off. I'm trying to win a ring sooo anything goes while you the heat of the battle.

Oh, the Irony.

Perkins probably had a hand in Lin getting injured as well.

I do find it interesting that Charles Barkley joked that Lin had the "Westbrook flu" for not playing the 2nd half of the game suffering from chest muscle spasms.

Interesting perspective on players getting hurt and playing with injuries.

Its too bad all that bad karma that Perkins brings into their team had to affect Westbrook.

Now, like others said, Perk will be out to get Bev or our coveted Harden tomorrow night. Everyone needs to watch out because he will most likely pull some Bynum type ****

At least it was not a chest contusion.

This sucks to hear but I still think the Thunder still have more talent than us and win it. Since the NBA playoffs are so damn long Westbrook has a chance to comeback but not until the end of the Western Conference finals or the finals itself

Well, damn. First off, hate to see injuries like this...especially to players of Westbrook's caliber. I've always felt he got too much hate in situations where OKC has come up short the past couple seasons.

Saying this, I still don't think Beverley's play was dirty. It was unnecessary, but many PG's including even Westbrook go for a steal before/right when the timeout was called. Unnecessary and unfortunate, but there was no dirty or ill content there. This still surprises me though, since Westbrook was still making very strong athletic plays after that...that sucks.

As for the series, it certainly changes the look, but this could also mean more Durant shot attempts...and if Reggie Jackson/Fisher hit shots the way they've been hitting them in this series, then nothing might really change in regards to our series with them. Heck, I kinda thought getting under Westbrook's skin made him force shots a lot, and leave Durant invisible for stretches. Durant averages 33 PPG on like 54-55% w/out Westbrook. And they still got Ibaka, KMart, and R.Jackson..

But seriously, Beverley when I asked you to save us... I didn't mean like this!

Damn just listened to Bev interview. "Said he's been hit with quarters over in europe" Bev's not even gonna be phased!

Before Lin fans throw a hissy fit I really do not think Lin is soft. Guy is a gamer and tough as nails. Never seen someone take so many hard falls and get right back up.

god daam i just woke up and this was the first thing on the wiretap. he could be out for the series!!! i hated bev going for that steal BUT it wasnt a dirty play. as tmacmvp said it was unnecessary. he was going for the ball, not for westbrook's knee. other players do this. caron butlet did this before vs the raptors and actually got the steal and got fts.

but still, bev just made himself famous in okc for the wrong reasons. hoipefully perkins doesnt clothesline him in the next game

its only a minor surgery so he might be out only a couple games or this series.

rockets have to win at least one game now. we can take an okc team w/o one of its stars to 6 games.

Didn't know they called their currency in Europe quarters thought it was just the U.S. but who knows?

Injuries happen. Beverley fans will see it as fair play on the ball, typical playoff intensity. Westbrook fans will see it as dirty and overly aggressive. OKC has Perkins as their "enforcer",and typically Westbrook/Durant doesn't need to get their hands dirty.

On the other hand, I'm a little tired of the "Beverley can do no wrong" narrative. It's as bad or worse than the overrating of Harden and Lin. At the end of the day, we'll need all our players to do well. I don't appreciate calling one team member soft or trash for 1 bad game just to prop up your favorite player.

bad karma
i blame it on perkins
he told rockets fans "if you don't like that play do something about it"
there you go
someone must wish perkins not going to win championship
and the good fairy know okc still can win without perkins so they took westbrook out

Beverley is American, he gets hit with a coin the size of a quarter he is gonna call it a quarter especially if he is in the States answering questions, its just how people speak.

I used to say "coke" when asking for a soda, now I try to say "soda", in the north/midwest most everyone says "pop" but if speaking with someone in Ohio i'm not gonna call it pop.

Return to Houston Rockets
