If the rockets are not able to lure Dwight away and he resigns with the lakers would the rockets instead be interested in pau?
Lets say rockets sign a high profile forward like josh smith, or Milsap. Would management rather just pair him w/ asik or would they be more intrigued by a smith/pau front court?
Pau is older and comes at a hefty price tag but at 32 I would think he has a few more years of great play. he also comes off the books in a year and the rockets can rework a new, more favorable deal (the same time that asik's contract jumps up to nearly 15 mil)
If they would be more intrigued by pau then I propose this...
Rockets get: Pau Gasol
Lakers get: #10 pick, thomas Robinson, Leonard
Blazers get: Asik, Blake (or Duhon, whichever lakers most want to dump)
not sure if the rockets have quite enough cap (depends on what josh smith would cost) to make this work or if the value is quite right in the players moving around but something along these lines.
Lin/Beverly
Harden/Anderson
Parsons/Deflino/Jones
J.Smith/Motiejunas/Jones
Gasol/G.Smith
or would this be a better team...?
Lin/Beverly
Harden/Anderson
Parsons/Deflino/Jones
J.Smith/Motiejunas/Jones
Asik/G.Smith
and if Josh Smith wants something too exorbitant like a max, swap him w/ Milsap
pau

Exactly. The proposed trade in here is quite awful for Houston. Losing Asik for Pau is very much a downgrade at center. Poor use of Rockets assets and cap space here. The point of the deal seems to be doing the Lakers a huge favor.
Amnesty bid or no Pau

Also, its needs to be pointed out again that Asik will not count 15 million towards the cap in his last year.

Re: pau
I like Gasol and would advocate that the Rockets put in a huge big on him should he be amnestied....but there's no way I'm trading for him given the needs to make salaries match. And HAHAHAHAHAHA at trading Asik for him.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?
