^ Well, here's the thing: They proved you right on the offensive side of the ball.... We saw glimpses of what could have been if Wallace was productive on both ends instead of a walking corpse and a PF that could make layups and finish inside. We saw gimpses of Deron/Brook manhandling and looking effortless in doing it at times and that is all we saw.
Mental side of the ball? Nope.
Defense side of the ball? Nope.
Pretty much the entire struggles, frustration that we all saw during the regular season came out in one game.
- Good start
- turnovers
- fight back
- take a lead
- lose a lead
- make clutch baskets
- let the other team hit clutch baskets
- don't get stops
- don't get key rebounds
So, basically if this was a Prove it Game: They proved they can score and look unstoppable and they proved they are mentally weak, not focused and lacking a true road warrior mentality.
I will give credit to PetroNet for calling that. At the end of the day, talent is there, the elite team mindset to close out a must win game is not. All it comes down too.
And yes, that starts from top to bottom coaching, stars, bench everybody. The series was over in Game 2. It was wishful thinking they could remotely play with any sort of fortitude in Games 3 and 4.
After seeing teams like the Knicks, Clippers get embarrassed in the playoffs and rebound with a hunger to win. I'm really interested to see what this team and it's top talent does next season because that will REALLY expose them. No excuses then. 2 years under the belt, a new coach, probably new bench, system, healthy from the start, etc.
