Being new to the board I hope everyone here has great tolerance for dissenting opinion, because some things just mystify me.
Having watched every game, and having reviewed every player's production, I question a few who seem to be placing the blame almost totally on Miller. Yes he shot poorly in game three, and yes Curry exploded with him in last night. But in the second quarter he particularly was important in reducing the GS lead to two points. But when he came out they immediately brought the lead back up to 12 in the last three minutes of the half. Without claiming Dre is good, bad, or mediocre, it seems to me that GS is pretty damn explosive, and thus far seemingly unstoppable, regardless of who is on the floor. I agree with "Corona" on this point, except I will not blame Dre for having been put on Curry (not that he did -- but others have it seems). On the plus side Miller is shooting the same excellent 47% he shot during the season while scoring 7 more points in the same minutes. He is one of only four players on the squad who has increased his production in the playoffs. And, I think it is important, that we would definitely be zero and three without him.
I think some have forgotten that this is still a team game. Let me preface the rest of this by stating I am not a hater, and particularly like almost every player on this team. I personally think the loss of Gallo has us in a gun fight without a gun, but cannot complain too much because their loss of Lee is also significant. But let us look for blame other than to a 25 minute sub.
My biggest disappointment has been Chandler, who I believe should be the second best scorer without Gallo. He has been invisible in this series. He is shooting 33% and is three points down from his regular season average and far from his "glory" games late in the year. Also disappointing, considering the way he finished the season, has been Fournier, who has done nothing, with 35% shooting and no threes. I expected a playoff surprise, explosive, scorer.
The biggest problem may be our bigs. Their scoring is down a collective nine points, with a puny average of only 3 boards/per each. They seem totally intimidated by Bogut. In that regard I second the opinion of those who are wondering about using Mosgov. I'm surprised he did not play more this season because I thought he was good last year, and with the Knicks, and very good in the Olympics. He's probably too rusty to chance now, though.
As I said above, only three others on the team have exceeded their season numbers. Lawson has been exceptional, up six points at an excellent 49%. My only slight disappointment has been his three point shooting or lack of such, but that would just be icing. He has been the second best player in the series, almost winning one game by himself. If you can forgive his seven turnovers last night, Iguodala also has been quite good. He is shooting 51/40% and leading the team in rebounds with 7, one more than both centers. He has also kept Thompson from exploding and done a decent job on Curry when Klay is out of the game. I would put him on Curry a little more at crucial parts of the game. He won't stop Steph completely if he's hot, but we have no other alternative than Brewer. And no! Fournier is no where near the defender that Corey is. Speaking of that, I particularly always liked Brewer and think he has been unfairly the second most crucified player on the team. He is averaging three points above his season average, so in spite of 39% shooting, I place him among the only four on the team meeting expectations.
I'm placing Farried right after the top four. I think considering his injury layoff he has played adequately if not totally up to his standards. He still has gotten 7 boards per game.
In summary, I think there have been bigger problems in this series than those most often addressed.
