These guys are a byproduct of playing in a balanced system, playing with a Kobe Bryant most likely leads to not being as productive as they are now with their teams.

You guys get too choked into the moment of defeat and don't think with a clear conscience. You start thinking these players I'm seeing mentioned on the board will just suddenly propel us to championship level. They're all ROLE players, yeah they could help if playing off the bench. But if these guys are starters what does that tell you about those teams ?

And truth be told some of those teams weren't that much better than us even when they were the ones that didn't suffer all the injuries we did.

Disagree. Role players that play and know their role is exactly what the Lakers were missing their year. That was my point with Bogut vs Dwight. Dwight tries to be a star and has some star ability (rebounds, weak side help),etc. He's a much better player then Bogut normally. Although when healthy Bogut is a top center in the league. But Howard also has so many negatives in his game and this season you saw so many of them its hard to keep track of them.

Let me clarify though...I said this year. Going forward the Lakers should sign Howard. An athlete who can control the paint like him is rare. But this year...someone like Bogut with better fundamentals would have helped the team much more then Dwight. Dwight hurt the team this season as much as he helped.

Playing with Kobe will make them suck? How so? Asik played with rose and is playing with harden and is doing a damn good job. Bogut is playing next to curry and they're about to knock off the 57 win nuggets. Varejao was highly touted around the league when lebron was there and is now again with the rise of Irving. Same goes for Tyson chandler with cp3, dirk, and now melo. They create extra shot opportunities for your team without being a cancer. They also do an admirable job on defense, without the headache that Howard causes. No one said they will bring you a championship, but they would be key pieces in building a champion. Howard, while a great defender, thinks he is a top offensive player in this league and flat out doesn't try on d if he is not given the ball repeatedly on o. If you feed him in the post he is a ball stopper and an offense killer. So think about it, if he is an offense killer, he can play the best defense EVER, if your team can't score, what's the point? Asik and all those other guys allow everyone else to do the scoring without demanding the ball. The only time they will score is off put backs and pick and rolls, which is a exactly what you need when you have a perimeter superstar.

Also, Shaq was the same way, the difference being that shaq was dominant on offense so you could go to him in crunch time. He also hit free throws when it counted, so you could go to him in crunch time and you didn't have to sit him until the two minute mark in fear that they would foul.

I think the essence of his message is that none of those guys are anywhere remotely near fair value for Dwight Howard.

Howard's decision will be based on whether the Lakers keep D'antoni or not.

His last tweet sums it up.

I will owe Dwight a big Thank You if he re-signs with the Lakers AND gets rid of d'Antoni.

Well in that case, I was suggesting the Lakers trade Howard for one of those guys. Of course that's not fair trade value, based to marketing reasons alone. But who would be a better "fit" for you guys with kobe, I think it's safe to say it would be basically Dwight without the need to have the ball on offense all the time, and without the "me-first attitude."

As a Magic fan, I know a little bit about not getting fair trade value LOL. We didn't get a fair return for him, and neither would anyone else. You will never get a "fair" return for a guy who makes you millions of dollars from a marketing standpoint. I was just talking about fit/need.

That's all good and dandy Dwight, but if you can't act like a real LEADER of this team when it mattered most then there's really no reason for you to stay. You either win here or leave. Simple as that.

Also, LOL @ Houston fans getting all excited about the thought of Dwight Howard signing with them. All I can say is be careful what you wish for. Dwight will be the same goofy dude with no championship aspirations and cause the same drama all year, which puts them in the position we are in right now. At that point I will LOL @ them.

Dwight is gonna be looking out for himself. He probably takes the most money and re-signs, but I would be cautiously optimistic about what will happen if he comes back. He'll try to get everything his way. He will try to get MDA fired (this one's actually not a bad thing, even though Phil's not coming back). And don't be shocked if he quits on the team and tries to force a trade out if things aren't going well to start the season. Dwight has the body of a lion and the heart of a house cat. This dude cannot hold Kobe's jock. Shaq was right, there's only one Superman.

Dwight's perfect role will be 3rd offensive option on a very good team or 2nd option on a very balanced team where he won't take much responsibilities no matter what. He will never be the 1st option some people claimed for,

most ideal scenario for Dwight

Westbrook
Thabo
Durant
Ryan Anderson
Dwight

or

Ty Lawson
Iggy
Gallo
Wilson Chandler
Dwight

It seems as if everyone is down playing the Dwight/Kupchak exchange when he was walking through the tunnel. That was a very telling sign, not a good one either. Have there been a rumblings as to what was really said? Please don't say he was saying it to a fan or he was yelling at the refs. Anyone believing that is a fool.

I believe he was referring more to franchise players getting max money.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
