I wouldn't seek to build around Jeff. But he seems capable of scoring pretty effectively as a secondary wing player.
His three point shooting would be an improvement over Josh's. he can finish in transition.

The last three months he's played pretty bananas.

And he has only two more guaranteed years after this season avg around $9 million.
That's pretty good production for that salary.

But it sounds like no one is in favor of this trade from either side.

If Smoove walks, we'd be lucky to replace him with a 15 ppg scorer for less than $10 mill.

As a Celtics fan, I would happily trade Green for Smith. Smith's ability to defend the 4 and help protect the paint are big needs for the C's with KG in decline/near retirement.

Some misinformation on Green in this thread though. Defensively he is primarily a 3 - an above average defender against KD, LBJ, Melo, Gay, George, etc. with his size, length and quickness. Struggles against quick 2s (too slow/cautious) and 4s with bulk (weak and soft as post defender/rebounder), but a good option against power 2s and stretch 4s.

Offensively, he's a bit like Shawn Marion - an 18-20ppg threat if you play at a super fast pace, but a guy who depends heavily on favorable match-ups to score in the halfcourt. He's at his best offensively as a 4 - speed advantage in transition, floor spacer and a dangerous face-up attacker against big men - but he's serviceable at the 3 - decent post game, good corner 3 shooter and still dangerous in transition when he's aggressive.

Those looking to avoid the frustration that comes with Josh Smith should beware though. Green can be maddeningly passive/soft for extended stretches.

Noted. And thanks. We as a group tend to suffer from homer's disease. Particularly when it comes to Josh.

In our estimation, no player or combination of players could ever match the production of Josh.

Would rather trade Smith for Pierce.

We could probably sign Pierce outright as a Free Agent.
