Heard this stat the other day: when the lower seeded team is up 3-1,they win the series 86% of the time. When the higher seeded team is up 3-1, they win the series 90% of the time.

What are the stats if one of the teams wear black?

JR Smith "I would have been playing golf today" had he played game 4 :D I agree

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/9228214/2013-nba-playoffs-jr-smith-new-york-knicks-said-series-boston-celtics-if-played-game-4

J.R. Smith thinks the New York Knicks would have swept the Boston Celtics if he had been playing in Game 4 of the division rivals' playoff series.

"Oh yeah, it would've been over," Smith said after Tuesday's practice. "I'd have been playing golf today."

The NBA suspended Smith for Game 4 after the star guard threw an elbow at Jason Terry's chin late in Game 3.

Melo going 10-35 illustrates that we need JR but it also illustrates that we need at least some contribution from Amar'e, too, to be able to beat the better teams. i.e., Miami.

Why? I'm not one of those people that thinks we're worse with him--quite the opposite--but what makes game 4 indicate that we NEED some production for him to beat "better teams."

I think there's too much pressure on Melo, and against the really good teams, JR will help but you'll need another scorer. I think Amar'e is not necessarily perfect on the court with Melo but as a statistical matter, he offsets Melo well because he's a very efficient scorer.

I somewhat agree with Scholar that Melo shooting a lot without more ball movement won't work well enough to DEFEAT Miami. Ball movement is hard against them too, but it's your best bet. JR and Melo will face harder, more contested drives and outside shots if they come off of the dribble or after holding the ball.

So much trash talk.. with them talking like this you would think that they're confidence is through the roof & that they're gonna seal the deal tomorrow.

BUT .. what happens if the Celtics come out hot & don't lay down easy?
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Here's hoping the confident folks on board here are right. Going back to Boston would be a mini-disaster.

If it doesn't work out as we hoped, it won't be crazy to point to Boston's personal pride as something that was stoked up, because I agree -- the Celtics do not have a very talented roster at the moment.

Have Pierce or KG gone on the record (besides Pirece's 'dinner in New York' thing)? They seem to be keeping mighty quiet, while Terry's out there gabbin'.
