Biggest news from Mark DeRosa scrum: not many people spoke up at the players-only meeting. Not good.

The "not good" was Blair's, not DeRosa's (he clarified in a further tweet).

Probably because the meeting was conducted in English.

In my mind, a meeting like this ought to result in some guys getting pissed off. It should result in guys getting called out. I worry that guys like Bautista and Lawrie get away with anything. We'll see reactions tonight.

Bautista on meet: We talked about some things he felt needed to be aired out. We had a # of guys that spoke up, we’re all sticking together

so either derosa or bautista is a bloody LIAR

also blair has kind of pissed me off lately with his "i knew all along that this offense sucked, even with reyes" comments he's been spewing on his show.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Don't listen to Blair. He also said that Bonifacio would be end up being the most key player in the Marlins deal. I gave up on him after that statement.

And, I know this is pure speculation, but Bautista just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that takes criticism well. There are vets in that locker room, but I just get the sense that none of them are really leaders. In my mind, DeRosa is a vet, but one that hasn't won the respect to call that kind of meeting. This team has to be led by Jose and I've always questioned his leadership abilities. Another issue could be the Latino divide. We've all played on teams before and there are always groups of guys that hang out more together, so it's not something that I write off as silly to believe. Again, speculation, but when things go badly, the problems rise to the surface pretty damn quickly.

The big advantage Jose has is that he speaks English and Spanish fluently. This means that he can communicate with all the players, while another leadership candidate like Dickey can't.

It's never a good sign to see cliques forming in the clubhouse, and Jose is in the best position to prevent this from happening.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
