Congrats to the spurs from a lakers fan

Post#1 » by Marionettetc » Mon Apr 29, 2013 7:44 am

This thread should be pretty simple. The Spurs are a classy organization that deserves all the success they find, and I hope this year you guys can witness Timmy and Pop getting their 5th rings.

It's no accident you guys are on top, with the discipline and hard work + sacrifice Pop demands of the team, and because of that I'm glad that it was the Spurs that knocked my team out of the playoffs in this fashion.

Good luck guys, I don't see anyone in the west beating you.

They still have a long way to go, but thank you for your well thought out post.

Right, Lakers' summer will probably be the most interesting part of this offseason.

Our team likely won't change much. I'm sure whatever happens, our FO will choose continuity (resigning Manu, Splitter) over going after big name FA.

Lakers got so many things to decide, it'll be fun to follow. Dwight re-sign or not. Whether they use amnesty on Kobe or even Artest. Pau Gasol in the trade block. Fun stuff.

According to WT, Jamison skipped his exit interview and "likely will not re-sign". LAL could look completely different next season. TBH, I don't know why Duhwight would re-sign with them either. How much different will the team be from the mess we just destroyed?

Trust me DK he won't be missed. He put up over glorified numbers on a bad Cavs team the season before and a lot of guys thought it would translate here in LA. I knew it wouldn't.

That wouldn't be a bad thing. I don't think we need some massive overhaul, just tighten up some key positions on the wings and back court.

It's easy, he either leaves 30 mil on the table or he leaves to set out on his own. This franchise can be his starting next season regardless if Kobe comes back or not. $118 mil compared to $87 mil shouldn't be too hard to decide on, but Howard is a different type of dude so who knows. We'll be OK..... summer of 2014 gonna land us two max guys.

Well that mess you destroyed was 2 hurting starters ( Howard & Gasol ) , 2 starters who's wheels blew out ( Nash & Blake ) and a bunch of guys who wasn't suppose to play. And not to mention no go to guy who's our best player.

We had a good run with the core we assembled back in 08, I said we'd be good for 5 years or so. We broke down before that but hey can't win'em all. You know us DK........we just reload !

Yeah Deep, guess you can't complain about 3 straight Finals appearances and two rings from that group.

I just don't know if Dwight is suited to the pressure that comes with playing in LA. Certain players feed off it, like your Kobe's or your Shaq's. They love the spotlight. But I'm not convinced Dwight knows what he wants with his career. He whined about not having enough support in Orlando, so when he was traded to the Lakers he probably was of the mindset that once Kobe retires in a couple years the team is his. But then what? If he complained about his supporting cast in Orlando, what's he going to say about Goudelock, Steve Blake, Jordan Hill etc.? I know you guys have a track record of retooling on the fly and in a big way, so who knows what the team will look like once Kobe hangs them up.

To me, based on what we've seen from Dwight in the last couple of years, nothing would really surprise me. He would leave money on the table I think. I honestly think you'd be better off without him. I wouldn't offer max money to him, he's not a franchise guy to me. And I wouldn't pay max money to someone that gets 7 pts and 8 rbs and gets tossed in an elimination playoff game. That's an insult to the fans.
