Bottom Line: If the Knicks can't decisively close out an aging, thin Boston club tonight, then they were very likely not going to do much this post-season anyway.

You can just feel Doc, Terry, and everybody on that roster trying to turn the series into a grudge match with extracurricular distractions .... Why? Because they can't really win in a real basketball series. They're overmatched.

So they're grasping at anything -- trash talk, etc. -- to try to turn the series into a mental game and a circus. They kind of figure that out of that chaos, maybe they can somehow get the Knicks on the run and emerge victorious.

I can't stand this team. Finish them.

Who on the Knicks used that as an excuse other than JR Smith himself. Wtf Doc? Why do the Knicks even need an excuse not to sweep the Celtics. Are they THAT bad?

You can't blame them though. Desperation breeds desperate behavior and thinking.

exactly what they're doing. it started during game 3. their coach should be above it though. doc's done this twice now. his first comment was about how he wishes he was playing, like he would do something to jr. woody to his credit keeps it professional.

It's easier to keep it professional when you're kicking the other guy's ass up and down the block

Jesus, even I think he's old.

It's funny - maybe it's because I still play clubs with guys a lot younger than me, but I look at dudes that are probably my age and I think 'old dude.'

I just don't see myself that way for some reason.

If Woody pulled a John Cheney after a game, I would love it tbh. Remember our assistant coach going at Pacers coaches halftime...that was cool 8-)

True. I think that's why you haven't heard much from Pierce or KG. They see the writing on the wall and they're laying low.

I'll take special satisfaction in watching the Knicks close them out tonight. Then it's on to the next one, whoever that is. We got bigger fish to fry.

SMH @Rivers. The Knicks were without Smith for game 4 and STAT the entire seires. Essentially they were without their 2nd best scorer the entire series and third best scorer for game 4. On top of that Tyson was trash due to conditioning in the first two games. At some point a coach has to just realize that his team is CLEARLY inferior and knock that talk off---IMO it just makes them look bad....nothing else. It's like Q trash talking back in the days when the Celtics just whooped us everytime and Pierce always destroyed Q...it was just ridiculous and made Q look bitter and sour.

garden fans deserve to bathe in the tears of the celtics tonight.

looking forward to seeing shumpert's play tonight. if he shows up like he did game 4 i wouldn't be opposed to having him close out the game rather then kidd.

he's proven to be just as great a rebounder, better 3 point shooter, and he can actually apply defensive pressure. woody will probably go kidd anyway though.

Knicks never used JR as an excuse. JR and Melo said that if he played they probably would have won in regulation, but the point is if Melo makes 1 of 2 from the line we win in regulation. Playoff basketball is about ft made, defense, and timely hooping. We had only one of those go for us, still tied in regulation.

That's why I can't even take the Celtics serious---to me it's not even close between the two teams...the Celtics average 30 second half points through 4 games against us. They essentially needed everything for us to go wrong and for them to go right and a huge travel on Garnett prior to the game tying basket in order to pull one out in OT. How they can gain confidence out of that is kinda beyond me but I guess whatever floats their boat.
