Yeah I've been looking for the Jazz organization to officially announce it since KUTV broke the story. I'm hearing he's now a consultant to stepping down to denying anything is happening.. (also tweets about how nothing has changed..).

.. but then I've heard he's now a consultant? Seems weird to be doing this now... why not wait until the team is set up for next season? I thought the reason for bringing in Dennis Lindsay was to have more manpower dealing with all the free agents/agents this off season and THEN step down eventually...?

This is the true passing of the baton from KOC to Lindsey. This offseason belongs to Dennis.

He's being forced out. It started when they brought Lindsay in and gave KOC some sort of "consultant that plays golf all day" assignment. This is Greg Miller's doing. Greg wants complete and ultimate control and KOC was a link to the Sloan/LHM days of competent Jazz management team....so naturally he had to be out.

The words KOC and competent don't really go together. Good I hope Greg wants to take control and hopefully actually does something that makes this team a winner. There is a reason he brought in DL, if the rumors were true that Millsap plus a future 1st or 2 were on the books for Damian Lillard and KOC turned it down Greg Miller was probably pissed.

My guess is KOC stays around through the draft and FA, and steps down at the end of the summer. This off-season will be the culmination of the Deron trade, so I'd be surprised if wasn't around to see it through.

If he is being forced out, this is sure a slow-motion force out. :lol I think there is a transition going on but someone got word of it early and broke the story without the details around the timing and transition. KOC is in his mid-60s and been at this job what--14 years? Lindsey wasn't brought in to fetch Kevin a soda when he needs it.

I don't get all the KOC hate. I wouldn't exactly argue that Greg is the most competent guy out there, either.

I've never hated KOC. He's always been handcuffed by an organization where the owner and coach were going to get the last word over him, transitioning to a stingy new owner and overmatched new coach. Lets not forget the weird market that is Utah. It's not the easiest FO job in the NBA...

I get the sense that the Jazz organization is splitting hairs with their refutation, either with respect to the timing of KOC's transition or the exact nature of his new role.

This seems utterly and completely off-base.

1. let's not get carried away. KOC is by no means a bad GM.

2. is the millsap +one or two 1st round picks for lillard any more than a forum rumor? is there any credence to this rumor at all? as far as i understand it, it is only a wishful thinking of jazz fans who wanted lillard or that the jazz will find a way to trade into the lottery of that draft and that this is what they (the fans) were willing to give up. this is by no means even a semi-substantiated rumor.
