Ricky Ledo

Do you think he'll be drafted? I mean, even Jeremy Tyler got drafted after having to go to Japan, but I guess he probably won't be able to wow at the combine like a long athletic big could.

Every single team has sent someone to Providence to see him practice and most more than once so he is on the radar

He will be, and I wouldn't be surprised if a team implored him to come out. This reminds of a Jamal Crawford, Wilson Chandler type-scenario.. where a team sees his talent, and ignores the other surrounding issues(Chandler's only issue was lack of exposure). He will be fine in the league, as I don't think he suffers from bad character all in all.

Aside from his changing schools incessantly, the kid is super talented. Plays much like a mini-durant.

Why is he projected as a 2nd round pick? Haven't watched too much of him, but draft sites all say he has good physical tools and is really skilled for his age.

before he was even ruled ineligible i saw him being mocked in the late 1st. after a yr of not proving anything and not answering any questions about his game, sliding to the 2nd sounds about right.
he's skilled, but there are question marks surrounding his character.

he's a good, not great athlete. his teams underachieved. some of them pretty much sucked being led by him. there are question marks surrounding his impact on teams and how well he plays with other players. questionable decision making and shot selection. questionable defensive effort.

He's not a great athlete, he's soft, his court awareness is poor, his passing is poor, maybe a late 2nd

It's difficult to judge a kid who hasn't played competitively over the last year...I thought he had more offensive potential than Archie Goodwin coming in...The off the court problems have been well documented in his high school years, but if you can scorethere is a place for you somewhere.

I was looking over whose in and whose out for this draft.

Top shooting guards after Mclemore and Oladipo are:

Archie Goodwin
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Jamaal Franklin
Allen Crabbe

After that there really isn't too much there with CJ Wilcox returning to school. You have Michael Snaer (FSU) and Seth Curry whose more of a three point specialist. If a team believes that Ledo would be a lottery pick down the road he is well worth the risk of late first round pick/early second. Too much talent even with him sitting out last year.

Lance Stephenson type mental case. He could go late first, this year but if he's anything like Stephenson in interviews, he'll go 2nd.

Cleveland said they would take him so he knows he has a backstop of the top of the 2 round

i think and1's are stupid but if they worth something i gave you one..reasons like this are why i come to realgm as opposed to mainstream media. helps project him. I also think he has huge potential, a guy who can shoot and has a handle ( with his height) can be a really good player so i'm trying to see peoples opinion on him cause where i project him and where i see him ( or don't in most cases) isn't clicking. whats your take on him if you can say? without bias

He's being marketed as 6'7" and 195 pounds building up to the draft. At that size, he's got ridiculous handles; he can weave in and out of a defense at will, and has the ability to follow up an initial dribble move with a secondary move to get to the basket through traffic. He's got unlimited range, already capable of draining threes well beyond the NBA line. What's going to set him apart though, is that he has a deadly floater and midrange game. He's also got good vision to either drive and kick or drive and hit a slasher once he's occupied his defender. He's a good athlete, but is better described as "smooth" rather than "explosive," though he does have pretty impressive hops.

Just like any other prospect, he's going to have to learn and prove that he can utilize his skills within an NBA offense, he's going to need to add strength, and he's going to need make sure he stays engaged defensively. Had he played this year, we'd be looking at him easily in the first round, more than likely somewhere in the lottery. He's going to wow scouts in workouts, so if he interviews well, I won't be surprised to see him make it into the late-mid or mid-late first round. Regardless of destination, he's going to be a pleasant surprise to some fan base.

Celtics, Bulls, Pacers, Clippers, Spurs, and Thunder all could use a player like him, and, ironically, would all be among the best possible landing spots for him in terms of leadership and coaching.

As I said earlier.. He's going first round. Similar to Jamal Crawford's scenario from way back.. except he never got on the floor period. Kid is uber talented, and isnt immature imo.. Just lacks direction.

Chad Ford's Draft Sleepers: Ledo one of them

Ricardo Ledo, G, Providence
Ledo was the 21st-ranked high school prospect in the country last season and was widely regarded as the most gifted scoring guard in the class. Poor academics and inconsistent effort were the only things holding him back from being a star. Ledo failed to academically qualify to play at Providence, and has spent the past season practicing with but not playing for the team.

Had Ledo been able to declare for the draft last year, I think he would have been a mid to late first-round pick. Where will he go this year?

His talent, size and scoring ability are still all there. He also has a high basketball IQ and the ability to be a big point guard. His weaknesses are inconsistent effort and some selfishness with the ball. Scouts who have seen him in practices this season still swear he's one of the top talents in this draft and believe he'll blow up in workouts.

We moved Ledo into the first round of our mock draft on Tuesday. If he plays well at the combine and in workouts, he could move another 10 or 15 spots up the board. There are few upside prospects in this draft, and Ledo has just about every scout I've spoken with intrigued

He looks like a lotto pick. If I was a GM i'd pull out all the stops to try to get an extra pick in the 1st to grab him.

I have a feeling Ledo is going to move into the mid-first round shortly before the actual draft. The guy is just too talented to still be on the board by the second round....kind of reminds of a shorter KD.

Once teams work him out, they'll see how talented he is.

For people that haven't seen him play, what's a fair comparison? Kevin Martin?
