Jeff Saturday agrees with your assessment on Pro Bowlers.

Jeff Saturday made FIVE OTHER pro bowls and still sucked at 37.

Pickett has not made a pro bowl and is awesome at 33. What's your point? I understand you are projecting a decline, I just don't see why.

My point is that Pickett's age makes him a candidate for decline, and should that happen, we can make better use of his salary.

Terrible run defense and we're worried about losing part of that? Pickett wasn't anything special in run stop percentage and only played in 53% of plays. We're most likely keeping Pickett but I don't think the run defense will get worse without him since it's already putrid. Getting rid of Walden will be the biggest impact.

So you're saying cutting a good run defender won't make our run defense worse?

He's not stopping the run at an elite level and he is being paid to do that. He plays in a little more that half the plays. Pack won't miss a beat without him.

Losing Walden isnt a loss. He was one of the biggest culprits of losing contain.

Positive impact I assume? I don't know what it was about the word "contain" that he just couldn't understand.

Re: overall Packer draft comments
If Pick gets 53% of the plays he'll be 3rd or 4th most used DL which is about right (behind Raji, Jones & Neal). Unless he's injured I guarantee he won't be cut. Poor idea.

What makes you say he isn't an elite run stopper? The guy draws doubles constantly and is stout as hell at the point. The idea that we wouldn't be worse at stopping the run without him is insane. He's easily our best run defending DL. I don't even see it as being debatable since he's so much better than the next best guy in that regard.
It certainly wasn't his fault we were so bad against the run last year. He's one of the few bright spots we had against opposing run games.

No kidding. Pickett like any quality to solid NT can only do their job of eating up blockers so other guys can make tackles. If those other players fail to make the tackles, it's on them.

Re: overall Packer draft comments
typical pack run defensse
Opponent RB would elude or bounce off Wilson and drag Hawk for 7,8 yard gain OR blow by Walden & then run over Tramon 12,13 yards downfield then Burnett made the tackle (he lead the league amomg S)

Re: overall Packer draft comments
Pick is elite just as Kapernick is elite. $6.1 million for a 34 year old NT/DE/DT/(whatever Capers says he is this week) is a ton of money for someone not named Seymour. He is useless on pass plays and very good on run plays. Get Pouha on the cheap and get the Raji and Shields contracts done. Carry over as much cap space to next season so we don't lose anymore receivers. Walden was terrible and I should have been more detailed in saying that losing him (terrible run defender) and Pickett (good to very good run defender) this year will still be a net positive on the run defense.

Pickett is good at what he does but not an elite player by any stretch.

Re: overall Packer draft comments
Pickett does his job (eating up blockers) as well as anyone on the Packers, but he'll never get the recognition because he doesn't make a ton of tackles or wow plays. I'm glad the coaching staff recognizes it.

Re: overall Packer draft comments
Pickett would probably top my list of most underrated reasons the Packers have been so good over the past 5 years.
