This guy's high point was that he built a decent unit with key championship killing weaknesses that happened to luck up and get to the conference finals in 06-07. Since then he did nothing to try to solve those weaknesses and just let the team get worst each year. He also never replaced key players with anybody of even close talent and lost many of the key guys for pennys on the dollar or nothing (except williams which he gave up on but thats another story). All he did was patch jobs to try to at least keep the team in the playoffs just to be bounced out early. The ownership even allowed him to go over the luxury tax one year which is something most ownerships wouldn't let you do.
So now we are finally potentially doing what we shouldve did a long time ago which was rebuild except with less assets than we couldve had if we done it earlier including getting something for Jefferson/Millsap who will likely now leave for nothing.
I guess on the bright side we could have Grundfeld or BC but is that really any worst than the years of medicoreness under KOC? You still have an empty throbbing pit in your stomach.

This seems utterly and completely off-base.
Totally agree with you Stockton. As far as I know from what I learned during my time working at LHM, nothing could be further from the truth. Greg is simply not that interested in micro-managing Jazz affairs, and while he and Gail have to sign off on any moves or transactions, all of the expertise and trust remains with the Jazz FO.
I think KOC is just getting ready to retire. They probably brought Lindsey in and have simply been grooming him under KOC to make the transition smoother. I like Dennis Lindsey, so I'm all for it.

There is a reason he brought in DL, if the rumors were true that Millsap plus a future 1st or 2 were on the books for Damian Lillard and KOC turned it down Greg Miller was probably pissed.
1. let's not get carried away. KOC is by no means a bad GM.
2. is the millsap +one or two 1st round picks for lillard any more than a forum rumor? is there any credence to this rumor at all? as far as i understand it, it is only a wishful thinking of jazz fans who wanted lillard or that the jazz will find a way to trade into the lottery of that draft and that this is what they (the fans) were willing to give up. this is by no means even a semi-substantiated rumor.
I haven't heard this rumor before. Sounds absolutely ridiculous. Portland loves Lillard, and he's way more valuable than Millsap and couple picks in weak draft.

I think that he meant last year before Lillard was pick... meaning trading Millsap for the pick that ultimately was Lillard.
But either way... it is ridiculous. Nobody else around here has heard that rumor either.

Re: KOC stepping down?
Just to clear it up, Paul Millsap was on a short list of players that the Hornets and Blazers were discussing possibly sending their lowest 1st round picks (#10 and #11 respectively) for.
No discussion about the #6 pick for Millsap.
If the Hornets are looking to trade Pick 10 for a young veteran, who are some of the potential targets?
Chad Ford: Darren Collison, Eric Bledsoe, Evan Turner I’ve heard a lot. Ditto for Paul Millsap of the Jazz. By the way, I’m told the Blazers are looking at the same group of players at 11 if they decide to trade the pick.
No discussion about the #6 pick for Millsap.

it was Sap/Harris plus 1rd pick, now its seams obvious we should do that but back then i think it was quite high price for pg who didnt play against any serious opponent in ncaa. KOC is not bad gm but he is not great either
