and I wasn't disagreeing with your general comment. I value him too which is why I am willing to consider training a guy that 6 months ago was the face of the Pacer franchise to get him.

No, they don't. Gasol paired with Asik would get murdered defensively. That's the idea behind Lakers not wanting to pair him with center like Dwight. Just too slow. Pau is a center. besides, Rockets play 4 out 1 in and Gasol is not stretch 4...

I doubt the Pacers would trade Granger for Gasol. It would tie up 34 million in salaries at the center spot for two guys that want to occupy the same space. if they were to get Gasol, they'd probably want Hibbert going out--which I doubt is the direction they want to go.

Don't think theres going to be too many offers. Obviously the Toronto Bargs offers will be there. And I think Dallas might be interested if they cant land a big FA. Something based on Marion and cap fillers for Gasol could work.

I was thinking that Hibbert, West, and Gasol could coexist with any two being able to be on the floor at any one time. I agree the money is huge though. perhaps it makes more sense if someone makes West an offer we can't compete with.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... With-Gasol

Mitch knows we kina have to wait another year of being pretenders before we can re-build into real contenders in FA. Pau, Kobe, Metta, off the books with a re-signed Dwight + Nash might just retire. Can nab one or 2 max guys
and re-sign Kobe on the cheap ala Duncan.

Weird they keep shopping him if they want to keep him. Maybe they tested the waters and found out there's nobody thats going to give them their young athletic guys for him. Anyway, im not buying it

Considering how often Hibbert gets tired or in foul trouble I think the three headed monster of West, Gasol and Hibbert makes some sense. Granger would be a decent fit for the Lakers, optimally they would get someone with more speed on the perimeter, but they are certainly better off w Granger than Gasol in my mind.

Gasol is good when he wants to be, the problem is he's lost the spark he had when its was Odom, Kobe and Bynum. Gasol looks like he jus doesn't care.

I would do Brags plus any filler outside Lowry, Jonas any pick, Ross or Amir for him but if LA wants value beyond that I balk. Gasol ain't a top 10 big any more there are 15 bigs much better now.

Bargs is signed for two extra years and brings no redeeming value, i would rather roll the dice that gasol finds himself and if he doesn't at least he's an expiring, bargs will def suck for 3 more years.

Please stop. The Lakers aren't going to compromise their 2014 FA plans for Boozer, adding RIP or Hinrich to him still makes it a crap package.

Rockets likely be the top bidder if Pau gets amnesty, but they won't be interested in any trade with him in the package.

Ideally the Lakers want a stretch 4 or a SF that can consistently hit the 3 and defend.

I'd obviously love if they could get Ryan Anderson but that's not happening. I wouldn't mind a trade that can net Granger or even Patrick Patterson since they also expire.

Most likely scenario is bringing back Gasol and possibly amnestying Peace. Contrary to the popular belief here, Pau still holds value for a variety of teams, so the idea of amnestying him is slim to none. A healthy Gasol is a top 30 player, and the Lakers (along with the rest of the league) know this. Somebody will offer something that the Lakers want.

I saw an interesting proposal a few days ago:

Paul Pierce for Pau Gasol

There are 15-18 names I would take over Pau now and possibly some of the hon mentioned ones. Like I said Pau is good he's just lost that spark he had 4-5 years ago

And this thread just made a left turn... Feel free mods to move it into the player comparisons area under 'Pau vs ?' Heading. Nice work ladies.
