My interview with Charles Johnson

Post#1 » by Bucksfans1and2 » Sat May 4, 2013 1:05 am

Under normal circumstances, I know this isn't worth it's own thread but I was hoping an exception could be made.

Get the whole thing here:

http://www.detroitlionsdraft.com/2013/05/know-your-enemy-interview-with-charles-johnson/

Excerpt:

Q: The Packers had you in for a workout, did you get a feel for the organization and did you know that you were going to get picked where you were?

A: I didn’t know for sure, but when my agent asked me where I thought I was going to get picked or end up signing, Green Bay was the first team out of my mouth. I thought that they liked me quite a bit and I just had a great feel for the organization. I’ve never been a big city guy and I loved the friendly atmosphere of the city. The city and the organization are both all about football and I’m about football. I feel like it’s a great fit.

Q: What’s the first thing you’re going to do when you get to Green Bay, in terms of both football and non-football?

A: I can’t wait to meet everybody, the coaches and trainers and everybody. I want to get my playbook right away so that I can hit the ground running. There are three good receivers here and I want to pick their brains and learn from them, but I also want to surpass them and make a serious contribution my first year. As for non-football, I need a place to stay [laugh] my visit up here was all business. I’m probably going to end up going apartment shopping.

Q: I talked with your coach to set up this interview and he just raved about you. He called you the Randy Moss of Division II Football, in your eyes what are your strength’s and weaknesses?

A: Some strengths are my physicality, my athletic ability, my intelligence and my willingness to get coached.

My biggest weakness is looking the ball into my hands. I’ve got pretty good hands, except when I take my eyes off the ball and start looking downfield. I watch film of my drops and I hate watching myself drop the ball because I’m not focusing. That’s something that I plan to work on with the QBs and the coaches here in Green Bay. I plan to make them say, “CJ you’ve caught enough today, my arm is tired and you haven’t dropped any, go home.” Another thing I want to improve is my route running. We didn’t have a very complex route tree at Grand Valley, and that’s obviously not the case with the Packers, I feel like it’s pretty good already but I want to get even better.

I like the goal he set, to surpass them. I mean, good luck, but go for it.

Nice just BF1A2.
