Face it, guys : we didn't even try to win the game until the end. If we're going to become a championship contender, that'll have to change.

I don't know if it's depression or fear or laziness or confusion or ... what, but this team gives up too often. This team has emotional problems.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

And it's so confusing, too.

I thought it was Woody's leadership.
Or JJ's nonchalance.
Or Marvin's inconsistency.

But they're all gone and it still remains.

Devin played with fire the whole series...but everyone else kinda just faded in and out.

Maybe it'll change with Teague/Josh gone.

I'm not going back and forth with you past this. After this comment I stated that they feel behind by 19 when they were going inside in the third. If you are going to argue with your own comment go right ahead. The bulk of that 19 point deficit they YOU referenced happened in the third. I simply pointed out that they were going inside when the lead grew to 19. This isn't arguable. Its a fact. Its not my opinion that the lead went from 8 to 19 in the third. It ACTUALLY happened.

but I know. When you said fell behind by 19 I should have known you meant fell behind by 8 a quarter earlier than when we went down 19. Because that makes sense.

And every single Hawk bore equal culpability for a second quarter epic in its awfulness

The Hawks scored one basket in that quarter, none over the period’s final 10:34. They made one of 15 shots...

Score two hoops in an NBA playoff quarter and you should be down by 15. Halftime score (unsuitable for framing): Pacers 37, Hawks 29

The Hawks’ first basket of the second half came on a goaltending call. They didn’t succeed in actually making a shot until Al Horford’s 17-footer with 6:52 left in the third, which means – pause for effect – an NBA playoff qualifier had gone 17 minutes, 41 seconds without actually sending a field-goal attempt through the hoop.

Yes, RIP. We shot 6% in a quarter. The single worst quarter in the all time history of our franchise. Damn right.
in this quarter, we shot twice in the paint. Everything else was from outside the paint. For this sad display...they get my ire. My disdain. I gave it as it happened...for poor shot selection. I give it now...for poor shot selection.

But go ahead and defend this poor play. You always make excuses for these guys. Even when they go 17 straight minutes without a Field Goal. Historically bad stretch. But you're okay with it....I actually have hopes seeing my team win something. Not just hope to only lose by 8.

Said Smith, who would finish with 14 points on 16 shots: “I think everybody should be re-signed. Or re-hired.”

Oh Josh. Oh sweetie. Oh, Honey.

....no.....

It's sad. Our franchise has made him so accustomed to mediocrity, he's willing to maintain the status quo for another year. Another sad, forgettable, unremarkable year.

oh well, overall a good season. Horford's defense on West was embarrassing and was the key that tipped the scales to the Pacers' favor. Great game by Josh, his ability to dominate the defensive end guarding both SFs and PFs has been a great next step for him this season.

too bad West was able to do anything he wanted on Horford, if that just went alittle better and Korver hit two or three 3s, i think it would have made a huge difference, because Korver's 3s really seems to energize the team and the fans, even more than a great dunk by Josh or Teague.

anyway, overall it was a good season, espeically since it's a transition year and the Hawks had two big injuries in Louis and Zaza.

i'm not really too upset about the playoffs, the Hawks could have beaten the Pacers, but i honestly don't see them doing much against the Spurs, Heat, and Thunder. i'm more excited about the media attention the Hawks are going to get this summer, when every free agent is going to get paraded through Atlanta.

It is going to be a very active board, when we see all the moves Ferry does in the next few months.

West shot 42.9%, going 9-21, against Horford. For the series, West averaged 16.3/game on 48.8% shooting.

Also, you misspelled "Great." Obviously, you meant "grating." His choice of times to launch a bad shot was incredibly annoying.

The size of the Pacers is forcing us into too many outside jumpers from our backcourt.

We need a Center.

I never understand this argument that we desperately need a center for Al Horford to be a legitimate force. Al is 6'10 250. David West is 6'8 250. The difference between the two, is that West isn't a robot, has a real post game, and is tough as nails.

ok. but West is a PF. Hibbert is 7'2" 270.

If Horford plays Center, he'd have to guard Roy Hibbert, or Noah, or Tyson Chandler, or Brook Lopez.

Also, Horford has led us in rebs since he got here, and is usually in the top 10 or 15 in the league.
Yet our team is regularly outrebounded by other bigger frontcourts.

It happened 5 times in our 6 game series against Indy's much larger frontcourt.

We've had an undersized frontcourt for years. Look at what a larger (less talented?) frontcourt like Memphis was able to pull off with a large Center and a All Star PF. That's what I'd like to see: Other teams scrambling to match our size, us dominating the offensive boards, a center capable of blocking shots and dominating the paint, while AL abuses tiny PFs.

(Remember how he threw around Larry Sanders in MIL for the game winning bucket. Imagine him doing that every night.)

Also, it's worth noting that the 'robotic', 'wimpy' Horford avg (slightly) more points, rebounds, blks, assists, and steals on a higher FG% with a higher PER.

Though, it's worth noting I'd love to get West in a Hawks uni!!!!

Pacers fan here, just want to say that this was a hard fought series and congrats on the season. It must have been tough, what with the injuries to Zaza and Lou Williams, all the free agency/trade deadline buzz and whatnot.

I've always had a soft spot for the Hawks, plus I LOVE the city of Atlanta. Side question: is El Toro still around in Atlanta? I ate there probably about 15 years ago and it was probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. Anyway, I know there is a lot of questions to be answered with all the expiring free agents, but I really hope that you guys can remain a threat when the dust settles this summer.

I realized 1 thing at the game on friday, Josh Smith, and i think Jammaliver hit on it many times this year, his best attribute is his athleticism.

And friday, he showcased the decline of that athleticism. It was like a bolt of lightning, Paul george comes down and straight crosses Josh up for an easy 2. Few minutes later, josh fumbles an easy pass for a dunk out of bounds. has 3 BAD turnovers in the first half.

Josh this was your curtain call and , im just ready to move on. Wish him the best, but not on this team. If they resign him, I will have zero confidence in Danny Ferry moving forward.
