Brooklyn Nets are the new Atlanta Hawks

Post#1 » by SportsFan88 » Sun May 5, 2013 2:59 am

You know what I'm talking about...

Good enough to get into the playoffs...but always one and done.

Do not be perturbed by my NY sports affinity...I am knowledgeable in every team.

I hate to say it, but we both know it's true.

The Nets are a capable team, just not capable enough to make it past the first round

They are much like the Hawks. They might have the staff to make the playoffs every year, but they will not advance far enough to make an impact.

Thoughts?

And what do the Hawks and this Nets team have in common? Joe Johnson

You guys were doomed as soon as you traded for this guy. I've lived in Atlanta for most of my life and I can tell you first hand JJ is NOT a winner especially for the amount of cap space he eats up.

This is a troll thread but whatever, I'll reply anyway. This Nets team is significantly more talented than the Atlanta Hawks, but at the same time, this roster has a lot of flaws in the way its built. No starting caliber PF, lack of depth, athleticism, and no 3 point shooting specialists. Of course, having one of the worst head coaches in the NBA doesn't help.

Well, we're not quite the Hawks. We are somewhere in between Hawks and the Knicks. But this is the price you pay when you go big market. All of us knew that this team had to "make a splash" with the Brooklyn move.

The only hope is that this team continues to become a perennial playoff team, builds a good and loyal fanbase, and this current regime gets booted out after this mess is all done and build the right way.

Once Brooklyn gets rid of Joe... and other bad contracts... and Billy King... and signs a top ten player... and gets a stud in the draft... after all that... CHAMPIONSHIP 8-)

Honestly, this isn't a troll thread. I am just a sports fan giving my input.

Williams is an elite PG, but I have a hard time believe he is putting in maximum effort.

Joe Johnson is a good scorer, but he isn't what he once was. Even back in his prime, he wasn't elite.

Lopez is a top 5 center, but his defense and rebounding is below average. He needs to improve that.

Gerald Wallace is in his waning years. He is still athletic, but his impact is minimal at this point.

Blatche is an awesome 6th guy off the bench, but he is really streaky, and has immaturity issues.

All of this combines to a playoff team, just not a GOOD one.

The Hawks made it to the 2nd round 3 years in a row with Joe Johnson, so the Nets need to step their game up to be the Hawks :P
Net's are more like the Denver Nuggets or the Tmac Rockets

Deron was injured the entire season, yet still bounced back pretty well. People need to stop questioning him till he's playing fully healthy.

JJ is what he is, a pretty good player on a horrible contract. Defenses do have to worry about him and at the very least, he's a good decoy. Either way, his style of play hasn't meshed so well with this team as he really hasn't adapted to being an off the ball, catch & shoot type of player.

Gerald Wallace had a mostly horrible season and we've been over the fact a million times that it was one of the worst trades of all time. However, tonight was a little promising and if he can be the glue guy this team needs, that's pretty much all we would like from him. Nights like tonight make me believe that he's still a much better player than he was over the season.

Blatche has been a good sixth man but the team has been too reliant on him and we also need to retain him this offseason. Hopefully he stays for the vet min, because we badly need to sign another good bench player for the mini MLE we'll have this summer. Outside of Blatche and CJ, our bench was utter ****. Another big aspect of next year has to be implementing Teletovic and Toko into the rotation regularly. I still believe Mirza can be a good rotation player for us. Toko is a hard working, young prospect with good size, ball handling ability, and if he can improve his jump shot, he can be a good player in this league.
