Same here. We would need to pick up a 3rd pg though because bev and AB are fairly small.

spolgar wrote:We lost because they were the deeper and better team. Lin didn't cause us to lose this game on his own, especially with Delfino out, he had to play. He was just being a good solider. For a variey of reasons, we couldn't close out the first 2 close games, which was the most unfortunate because we had leads going into the final minutes. Youth had a great deal to do with it, and further more, we avoided our lack of personnel at the power forward position by playing small, which wouldn't have worked forever against a long team like Oklahoma all the time.
As per why we lost game 6, Reggie Jackson and Martin were due a big game. They stepped up considerably and our defense didn't match them. Our game plan was to push Durant to spots he doesn't like and make the other 4 guys beat us. And it worked, it was just unfortunate that our better defenders couldn't be on the floor as they were in foul trouble from guarding Durant. Beverly sat early with 2 fouls, and Brooks made some bad plays. With Lin's injury, he was extremely tentative on contact, which is problematic because that's 50% of his offensive game. He was fine on defense as far as staying in front of his guy for the most part, but he didn't really want to get physical. Lin was pretty ineffective and should've continued to sit if Delfino wasn't out. This was especially problematic because the point guard Match up was suppose to be to our advantage with Westbrook out. That and with Delfino out, we got hammered defensively at the 2 when Garcia had to cover Durant.
Harden has to shoulder a bit of blame too since his offensive counterpart lit him up, but the guy played with strep. I can't be mad really. Of our starting 5, we had a banged up point, a really sick (and shouldn't be at work) 2, with our 6th man out with a broken foot. Against a team that was already superior in talent (minorly) and experience (extremely), I'm surprised we did as well as we did. Budding rivalry and all that though. Should be interesting.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to trade Lin. I happen to agree that it's a good idea to trade for a non-ball-dominant PG who can be a better fit with Harden.
However, making a thread "Trade Lin" immediately after the Rockets lose the series is basically pinning all the blame on Lin. Sure, Lin had a forgetful playoffs. He stunk in game 1, but was having a good half in game 2, then after that he was ineffective due to the injury. Lin's performance was far from the main reason why the Rockets lost. For starters, how about Harden's 39% shooting and 4.5 TO/G in the playoffs?
Lin pretty much matched all his numbers from last year across the board (FG%, 3pt%, ft%, ppg, apg, spg, rpg), while decreasing his TOs. He is a streaky player, so maybe people just remember his bad moments. But seriously, look at his numbers and tell me how he is a worse player compared to last year? I'm not saying he doesn't have areas to improve, I'm just addressing the kneejerk "trade Lin", "he's the reason the Rockets didn't win the series" reactions.

Even if you break even, or even make a small profit, doesn't change that Lin was overpaid.

Which is kinda like showing up to a AC/DC concert and getting an earful of Rachmaninoff. Your somewhat different new style of writing was a little jarring.
