If they pick Grant Hill, a guy with no FO or even coaching experience to become GM over McDonough wow ill be pissed.

I love Grant and all but this is not the right time for a move like this. We need someone who knows what they are doing and is hungry for the job. I would love to have Hill at some position within the front office or even an assistant coach but this is not the right move. Just pick McDonnough already and let him start to get to work. We only have two more weeks until the lottery selection.

Being that whoever we bring in wont get the full reigns anyway, I would be ok with Grant starting his front office career with us. No matter what Babby and Sarver are going to be calling shots, atleast we would have a superior ambassador to the game and a true basketball guy, an honest true hard working great person to put in front of free agents and rooks to rep our team when it comes to drawing free agents and drafted players being taught the game and buisness of the nba and how to succeed and play. I would also support any of the other two canidates, but cmon.... the other two cant just instantly be considered gods by you guys. Grant may be just a face right now, but I truly trust him as a man... as a man of his word.... and a great judge of talent and character not to mention his ability to reach out and actually talk to young guys like a real Gm should be able to. Balnks seemed like just a real JERK as far as a person, Grant is most definitly a stand up guy and superior human being.

He has been a top athlete and around the nba for how many years? As a guy who we wanted to keep around as a player if only to be a mentor slash be a team captain points to leadership and trust to guide young minds. If a guy like Hill who has measured up to talent since the early 90s and played against the likes from Jordan to Lebron isnt qualified to judge what is talent then who the hell is, he has seen it all. He has been one of those talented players and has managed to mix in superior intelect while playing this game, I would trust him to be able to judge it also. Buisness and numbers is going to be handled by Babby, relating to and motivating players, not to mention being a face would be Grant Friggin Hill. Its a GM, not Superman, what the hell else is he needed to do. I trust someone who has played the game and gotten respect around the league for who he is as a person and a leader.

I think Stein is simply regurgitating conjecture and speculation.

This is what Coro tweeted this morning:

McDonough is the new favorite to land the #Suns GM job. The job proved more attractive than 2010. A look at the race: http://bit.ly/10msAt9

Although if you read the article, he writes that Weltman is still the favorite.

I don't think Hill is being seriously considered. If he is, it's probably as a real base-level FO job...maybe Asst. GM?

Jordan is always mentioned as the rule to never hire a former player as gm, when he should be the exception. There are former players who have done good to great things as GM's. Pat Riley, Ainge, Bird, Kupchak, Grunfeld, Petrie, while others became good coaches Wilkins, Mchale both gm and coach, Jerry West Doc Rivers, Sloan!!!... I could go on with former players who succeeded when they stoped playing. Jordan and Isiah Thomas were bust, sure, but they are both complete ego maniacs and gamblers, Grant is neither.

I was going to mention all the players who became good GMs without any real prior experience, but I see it was just posted.....Joe Dumars did well too for quite a while (and appears to have some nice pieces in place again).

I think Grant Hill is smart, good relate well to players and could be really good. I would probably prefer McDonough but no one really knows how it would pan out, and I could imagine Hill doing well.

That being said, I think whoever is the next GM has a pretty tough road ahead of them, and they might not look like they are doing well for a little while since they are left with such a crap roster with zero young pieces, a pretty bad draft ahead, and a brutally tough western conference.

Dont read me wrong Carey and Rsavaj, I think whoever we pick is going to right the ship and support whoever we go with. No matter what I am going to live and die Suns B ball. Cant wait for the draft, free-agency and to see if we actually find anything worth our time in a trade!!!! CANT WAIT!!

They haven't hired anyone yet. That was just a random report from one man. I trust Coro more than I trust just about any other outside source. Coro says that Weltman and McDonough are still the favorites and I would be absolutely shocked if someone else magically became the GM (of course, with Sarver ultimately in charge, anything can happen).

Let's wait to see what officially happens before blasting the team's hypothetical decisions.

It's not official yet, Gambo is just so sure of his sources that he considers it a done deal. I'll believe it when the team announces it. Here's hoping they do it soon!
