Move it? No. I say we sticky it.

I do thnk Alex is right that the Lakers will look to amnesty Metta. IMO, that gives the LALs the option to keep Gasol or trade him.

Chicago in: McGee
Chicago out: Boozer
Could fit with Noah and Taj in 3 man rotation, saves some money per year, and goes bigger to beat Miami.

Denver in: Gasol
Denver out: McGee and Chandler
Adds an element to the offense for parts that are expendable. I'm personally of the opinion that McGee's long term salary doesn't fit with an Iguodala extension, so the short term nature of Gasol is somewhat mitigated.

Lakers in: Boozer and Chandler
Lakers out: Gasol
Boozer might fit better with Dwight, and Chandler would be a key addition.

we're not killing out cap situation for Boozer, come on now. What gets added to who to make them do it?

jee, tough choice...kill our 2014 cap clearing situation for Boozer or not :-?

I think a Granger for Pau deal works for both sides equally, especially if West isn't brought back. Granger doesn't kill our 2014 plan either some of the suggestions here, mainly Boozer.

^ I don't think it works for the Pacers. I don't think they'll take Gasol for Granger + eat 6 million dollars in salary. Especially since they have Hibbert and don't need Gasol. Its also worth noting that if they eat that extra 6 million, they likely won't be able to sign West. So, it becomes West and Granger for Gasol. Or, Granger and some other rotation player for Gasol so they can keep West.

Also, if you sign Howard your 2014 cap space isn't going to be all that great unless Kobe retires and Gasol (or his replacements in a trade) all leave. IOW, trying to get assets back from another team for Gasol would be utterly pointless if all you want them for is to waive them for cap space at the end of next year. As it stands, if Howard is signed, Nash + Howard + cap holds will leave you about 21-22 mil in space--no Kobe and no Gasol (or Gasol's replacements). More likely, Kobe will want to play another season or two and sign a contract with the Lakers. So the question becomes will the Lakers dump Gasol (or any one they get in trade for Gasol) AND try to low ball Kobe by asking him to take the MLE so they can sign a max player....lol. That is going to be funny as hell....lol.

Basically, if you're trading Gasol, and all you want is expirings that you have to waive/renounce at the end of the year so you can sign a max FA, that doesn't really make any sense since you won't be keeping those players anyway. IOW, might as well keep Gasol and let him expire next year if you're going for the "2014 plan."

If the Pacers need to save more money why don't they throw in GG or Mahinmi in the deal, Mahinmi isn't as necessary with Gasol coming in and GG is just dead money. If the basic frame of Granger for Gasol is agreeable for both teams, I don't think the Lakers will let a few million decide it.

Sucks for Indy who lose a bunch of cap space for no good reason.

what cap space are you referring to? there's only a 5mill difference in their respective contracts and Indy could add salaries to match.

^maybe if they add Mahinmi and Green and the Lakers add Duhon's ungauranteed + buy out cash and their 2014 1st round pick.

Minny wouldn't do that without the pick.

Green is fine as we kinda need an athletic wing but Mahinmi contract would be a bit much IMO. Take MWP with Pau and we can take back Miahini/Green :D

I think the last month or so has proven that Gasol isn't completely useless. I think he's got a bit of value. I can see Minny doing the deal without the pick, if they are trying to contend. Adding in their lotto pick is just overkill though.

Haha...you know thats not happening. TBH, I don't think there's any trade the Pacers would do for Gasol. They just aren't going to want to give up Granger for an aging Pau who plays the same position as Hibbert. If I were them, I'd just keep Granger or try to trade him for another wing player.

Lakers wouldn't do this. It adds 13+ mill to the 2014 cap and essentially ends pursuit of any top tier FA.

I'd offer up Hump, Teletovic and Brooks from the Nets.

no 1st too? At least give us that since that offer was for Boozer, I'd have to think being an expiring as well would warrant at least similar value to Boozer. But regardless this offer does nothing for us, money wise or talent wise.
