If Devin Hester wasn't run out of Chicago before his contract expired there's no way Emery does it to Briggs. We will have more than enough cap space to make major moves to the roster and Briggs will expire after the 2014 season.

Briggs said some harsh things about the Bears FO after we chose to let Urlacher walk. Also, don't forget that Briggs has forced the Bears to re-do his contract a couple of times, even though he had multiple years remaining on those deals.

They are rightfully positioning themselves for when he does it again next offseason.

I also think the Bears could've added young corners since all of ours' will be expiring, but I guess Emery liked Mills more than he liked Poyer. And maybe he plans on re-signing both Tillman and Jennings.

I though that Peanut had a couple years remaining on his deal.

And nope, Tillman is in the last year of his contract. This just means they have to target CB with one of their first two picks next year.

True. Hester makes about $2.5M this year and Briggs will make about $6.5M next year. The difference is that we had $12M to fill about 15 spots. Next year we will have about $45M to fill about 25 spots if I'm not mistaken. So we will not need to save the money next year.

And this is not the first time Briggs said anything harsh about the bears FO. I remember the year we went to the superbowl he flat out said that it will be a great way for him to end his Bears career. he's always been someone that tends to speak his mind, but he then goes out and does his job.

The multiple picks towards LB and OL makes no sense to me. As far as the multiple linemen go, I can deal with Long. We need an OLineman and we got one. Now when we drafted a second one, they lost me. The 2nd guy is not good enough to get any playing time so it seems to me that the pick could've better been used.

Same goes for the LB. Bostic, not a fan of the pick, but works. Maybe he's our future LB, but then we draft ANOTHER. He's going to get stuck behind not only Bostic but we just signed DJ Williams, who will get the start anyways.

I just don't get the idea of trying to get more than one pick to fill one need.

It's about filling the pipeline that was completely ignored or botched by the previous organization. What compounded how pathetic our offensive line was was how there was literally no young projects in the pipelines that provided some hope. J'Marcus Webb and maybe James Brown qualify but that's about it. With Kyle Long, you possibly have your long-term LT. With Jordan Mills, you've possibly got a solid long-term guard. That could happen as early as the 2014 season. Same with the LB position which was totally dependent on a healthy Urlacher, Briggs and Roach. An injury to any of those guys put Geno Hayes into the lineup.

Next season, Emery will probably take 2 cornerbacks and 2 defensive tackles.

So is it just me, or does anyone else hope that Mills wins the starting RT spot? That would basically give us four new starters in Bushrod, Slauson, Long and Mills. We would be turning a new leaf and know that Webb and Carimi aren't starting just because they are our only options.
