I guess I want to see if there is anyone who doesn't want to make boozer the villain. all the man does is help his team get to the second round every year, bulls fans get to watch their team. jazz fans get to complain about jefferson.

All the man did here was nurse questionable unprovable injuries. He had his moments, but he's no more now then a blip on the Jazz history radar. You'll get no Boozer love from me. Hated him then, hate him now.

Deron's the best player on a Brooklyn team that's got a lot of crappy, misfit, overpaid players and which fired two coaches this year.

Meanwhile Boozer is effectively a role player on one of the best-coached teams in the entire league.

I think criticism of both guys is way over the top and speaks poorly of the Jazz fanbase, but to compare the success of their respective teams is really to compare apples to oranges.

The jazz have enough obstacles when it comes to attracting free agents, do we really need to add "ungrateful, petty fans" to the list?

The those players... (I'm not sure who you're referring to as the 3rd btw, memo is revered here and retired, and ak gets plenty of cheers) earned those boos by repeatedly crapping on that fan base, who btw spent a lotttt of money towards those players salaries... I'm not saying anyone paid for the right to act like a complete ahole, but we certainly pay for the right to show our affections or displeasures towards players. We are also by far not the only fan base that does so... In fact, it's every fan base in sports that feels hosed by an athlete...

I have to agree with StocktonShorts on this one. I happen to be one of those guys who spends lots of money on the Jazz. I feel embarrassed every time the fans boo our former players. I think it's tacky and really rubs potential free agents wrong when we boo their teammates who used to play here. At best, it's bad karma and bad strategy by fans.

While neither of these guys produced on the level of Karl Malone, they came nowhere near to creating as much drama as Karl did nearly every offseason, and Jazz fans still love Karl to death, even after he opted to finish his career in a Laker uniform.

I'm really lost as to where either of you got the impression this is a Utah thing... Or that potential free agents aren't used to hearing their teammates or selves booed in various other cities... It's a rite of passage. I've also yet to see an athlete worth his salt that doesn't love being booed at least a little bit. If we boo, it's because we cared.

Stockton shorts, I'm not sure how old you are and what you remember of Malone, but there was PLENTY of Malone hate in Utah during and after his career. For example, after his yearly half hearted trade demand threats... And a couple years ago after he popped in outta nowhere to offer his unwanted input on the franchise...

And deron, for one, forced his way out to fulfill his large market dreams. Boozer sat for extended periods of time with seemingly minor injuries (re: his non MRI-able foot injury, and non torn, ridiculously slow healing hammy) and lacked real effort in games very regularly.

That's exactly what I was talking about. Why were jazz fans so forgiving of Karl back in the day (and even still)?

Cause front offices are notoriously full of absolute truths and rainbows and gum balls... You're right about one thing- this is a 2013 playoff thread, not a place to rehash deron and boozer, so it should end this discussion. but I wholeheartedly disagree with you. I'll let you hang in your world where no one lies and Utah has the only fan base that gets upset with former players...

Last point, malones cheers would come from the fact that his appearance at ESA wouldn't impact the outcome of a game. Our reasons to hate him have faded. Boozer and deron are on teams that are trying to beat the jazz. It makes a difference.
