There's more to defense than guarding someone 1 on 1. I've noticed bucks and even bulls sometimes don't even try to throw the ball into Lebron side of the court anymore. When Lebron gets switched onto a guy. Like monta and belli they looks scared to attack.

Yeah Butler has surprised me. He plays with a very Bulls-like toughness. Great fit for that team IMO.

LeBron had a good bounceback game. He was 7-9 before the bad shots and the shotclock three.

I can't complain since we won by 40, but I would like to see LeBron take more control scoring-wise. Dunno if that'll be best for the team overall, but I'd love to see that lol.

That's the thing in 2012 they needed it. So far this year no. Game 1 was an anomaly, it seems heat just didn't make shats.

Theres no reason for Lebron to score more if he completely controls the game on both ends like he did yesterday. The impact hes having is worth so much more than the numbers alot like Larry Legend

Miami is currently sitting on the #1 Ortg and #1 Drtg in the playoffs FWIW. Don't really feel like calculating SRS though.

+12.62 SRS, +6.8 offense, -8.8 defense

I'd ballpark that Lebron's creating ~12.0 points of that differential right now through 6 games, despite the poor game 1 vs. CHI. That is inline with being a +10-11 SRS player. FWIW, ASPM currently has him at +8.9 offense, and -3.3 defense, +12.1 overall.

A player can completely control the outcome of the game in 1 quarter without scoring one bucket. Jesus.

The Heat off court numbers without LeBron are staggeringly good this postseason (granted limited sample and nothing special competition). But a far cry from last years postseason where they were atrocious. Heck a far cry from this regular season where they were still outscored

Butler>Deng

In what way is he better than Deng? Butler in no way or shape is as proven as Deng in the playoffs.

He's better offensively and defensively. He attacks and finishes better, and he's a better shooter. And he's defending LeBron better than Deng ever did.

Well of course he's not as proven. This is basically his first time in the playoffs (while playing a significant role)

I'm not sure I would go so far as to say Butler is better than Deng, but yeah, it bears repeating, "proven" is not the same as "better"

I'm trying to figure the relevancy of Butler vs Deng in this thread. It's obviously better to have two excellent wing defenders to throw at LeBron/Miami than just one. Gives you ability to rotate guys, worry less about foul trouble, and have more lineup versatility. Having Deng would mean Daequan Cook doesn't have to see the floor, and you can play Deng at the 4 in small lineups, and get Boozer off the floor when he is stinking it up.

Both teams with ~125 ORTG in the first quarter

Hmmm. I'm not liking the lackluster effort by Lebron at times. I think ability wise current Lebron is at his best, but I like last season's Lebron better primarily because of his consistent hustle and effort.

This is just my take.

This is total crap from LeBron.

I mean seriously, we're talking about the GOAT peak here. He's being discussed with pretty high company. Where's the urgency? They're letting a team missing 2 of their 3 best players beat them.

Reminds me of my '09 Lakers. They used to frustrate the hell out of me, just refuse to show up the game after a big win.

Yeah but again, what more is he supposed to do offensively? Miami's offense is on fire right now, against a gritty defensive team on the road, and his manner of execution has been a big part of that, despite his lack of aggression in looking for his own shot. I have no issue with putting MUCH of the blame on Lebron's shoulders in game 1, because it was his own approach to the game that led to Miami playing poorly offensively, which is why they lost. Tonight though, the issue has been defense. Chicago's matching or surpassing Miami's offensive effort though, so credit them big time for that.

Lebron has been lacking the effort defensively tonight too, so.... it's a problem. I wish Lebron would pick it up. Lebron in the 2012 playoffs is looking like a better playoff run than his current.

Does physical play really bother the guy this much, because I can't explain why Miami isn't playing with a greater sense of urgency against this Bulls team? I was expecting them to come out with intentions to kill, and him specifically after the shove from Nazr.

He's playing a lot like the 2011 finals LeBron James right now, but I expect he'll pick it up in the second half.
