Post#1 » by mkwest » Fri May 10, 2013 8:08 am

Ujiri totaled 59 points and received eight first-place votes from a panel of his fellow team basketball executives throughout the NBA. The Los Angeles Clippers' Gary Sacks finished second with 28 points (three first-place votes) votes and the Houston Rockets' Daryl Morey and the New York Knicks' Glen Grunwald finished tied for third with 25 points (four first-place votes). Executives were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote.

Below are the results of the voting for the 2012-13 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year. The balloting was tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP.

Masai Ujiri (Nuggets): 59 (8-1st place votes, 6-2nd place votes, 1-3rd place votes)
Gary Sacks (Clippers): 28 points (3-1st, 4-2nd, 1-3rd)
Daryl Morey (Rockets): 25 points (4-1st, 1-2nd, 2-3rd)
Glen Grunwald (Knicks): 25 points (2-1st, 4-2nd, 3-3rd)
R.C. Buford (Spurs): 24 points (4-1st, 1-2nd, 1-3rd)
Pat Riley (Heat): 24 points (4-1st, 1-2nd, 1-3rd)
Bob Myers (Warriors): 23 points (1-1st, 4-2nd, 6-3rd)
Sam Presti (Thunder): 12 points (1-1st, 1-2nd, 4-3rd)
Danny Ferry (Hawks): 8 points (1-1st, 1-2nd)
Rob Hennigan (Magic): 7 points (1-1st, 2-3rd)
Billy King (Nets): 7 points (2-2nd, 1-3rd)
Donnie Walsh (Pacers): 7 points (1-2nd, 4-3rd)
Kevin O'Connor (Jazz): 6 points (2-2nd)
Jason Levien (Grizzlies): 5 points (1-1st)
John Hammond (Bucks) : 4 points (1-1st, 1-3rd))
Dell Demps (Pelicans): 1 point (1-3rd)
Gar Forman (Bulls): 1 point (1-3rd)

Last year, Bird (Pacers) finished first, followed by Buford (Spurs) and Olshey (Clippers).

Based on moves made, I think we could/should have been higher both seasons, but it's still good to be near the top again. "Baylor" won executive of the year in 2006.

speaking of mitch, aren't they looking at 50 mill on lux tax alone next season? it's gonna be fun watching their house burn down as kobe is out for year. nash is another year older and that much slower on D, ronron is manic as ever, they have no bench and even if they keep both howard and gasol, they won't be able to implement much of D'Antoni's system, and no youth to infuse as they gave up boatload of picks to suns for ole steve. :naaa:
ehhhhh f it.

2nd place Executive of the year??? maybe I don't see it. But thats not to say he did terrible.

GM is the most important position on the lis right now. except fpr CP3 who isnt actually on the clips yet.

But about the Lakers and their Lux tax. If the amnesty Kobe they can save a reported 80mil. Its gotta be tempting for Jim Buss who is not head over heels with a now injured Kobe. He'd get killed in the LA media. but 80mil is 80 mil.

Another never mentioned in the media option is amnesty Pau and save 55mil. Buss won't get killed in the media. The only problem with that, that move could determine next years championship as Pau either winds up on the Clippers or Grizz for free -so to speak.

amnesty gasol and they are still over the cap and over the taxline, unless of course howard walks too. but if dwight isn't coming back there is 0% chance amnestying gasol.

amnesty kobe and jim buss may save 80 million in expenses, but he will lose 80 million in revenue. laker merchandise, laker tickets won't sell and their overseas sales will take a huge hit too. they will even have to refund a large portion of pre-sold season tickets as no kobe lakers cannot get away with what they are charging for their games.

either way, i am highly entertained. like rubberneckers on highway checking out a roadkill kind of entertainment...

still won't be under the cap to sign anyone above the vet's minimum or do a sign and trade. saving jim buss some gambling money won't do jack to improve the flakers one bit
